Howdy,

We are about to ditch sky (isn't everyone?) after the world cup.
I'm a massive sports fan - mainly cricket, so need to secure another service to watch this. What is everyone using for online sports streaming? I'm not really looking for a dodgy free service, I'd prefer to pay for a quality service. I refuse to pay Sky's Fan Pass prices.

The wife and child are easily sorted with a mix of hulu and Netflix.

Is it 720p or 1080p? Did you find all channels stream solidly?

720 I'd say. Streams aren't bulletproof but most play well without buffering. I'm on 200/20 plan in Wellington. To be honest it's a low price so just try it for a month and if it doesn't work you haven't lost too much. It is browser based so a bit of fiddling around - but if you can handle that then no worries.

I haven't heard of livego.tv before. It seems they offer every sports channel in the world for ~$25/month?

Are you sure they are legit? (Note their email address is @gmail.com)

It mentions an XBMC plugin so may work with Kodi.

And how is it "grey"? Because it charges money for something they presumably don't have rights to sell? I'd say that's significantly worse than the dodgy free sites.

Tvnz ondemand have NFL and AFL live streaming if you into that stuff.

so you have access to all channels listed on their website for 11 pounds a month?

i know it says XBMC but wonder if there might be a way to link it up with Plex

Yeah, and that makes stealing stuff ok. Glad you sorted that out for me :-)

I asked because the OP said he didn't want a dodgy free service... The pay service you pointed out might disappear at any time and take your money. I personally don't care that you're paying for stolen content but IMO that's a pretty dumb thing to do.

I use Sling International. You can buy the sports package on it's own for USD$10/month. Cricket is live and to my surprise they were even showing Rugby as well. HD stream @ 3.6MB/s on Roku 3 and PC desktop app. You will need a DNS/VPN service though. It's 100% legal and run by Dish network in US.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I'm not defending these services. I subscribe to Sling with World Sports and it's great. But grey area sites provide options for people who can't otherwise afford or wouldn't pay for legit services. I have no issue with that.

I didn't know you could get Sling Intl sports without a general Sling TV subscription. That makes it better value than anything else i've seen.
