How do I do this. Airplay on an ATV is not interested and the android app seems ignorant about a Chromecast

You can't.

Both tvnz and tv3 seem to be slow on new device uptake

With chromecast you can cast the TVNZ tab in chrome

 

Not sure if there is a similar way to do something with apple tv

 

Chromecast is about $60

I was the one who mentioned an Airtame for sale some weeks ago. I still have it and happy to sell - please PM me if interested. I was going to put it on Trademe but haven't got round to it yet.
