So, like a lot of other people, the main reason for keeping Sky is so that hubby can watch NFL, NBA, NCAAF, WNBA, Poker............. you get the picture undecided

Has anyone found a way of getting ESPN to stream in NZ?  We can currently watch it through SkyGo, but if we get rid of the subscription then we lose that.  I've tried using WatchESPN but that asks for a cable provider, and despite the long list there is nothing I recognise.  We are more than happy to pay for a subscription and we could do so through NFL.com and NBA.com, but that doesn't cover everything as there is no NCAA and hubby really likes watching that (He's a Basketball Coach).  I can't find a subscription option on ESPN so I think I'm stuck.

Currently paying $117.50 per month for Sky so getting rid of it would easily cover subs to Netflix and others, but there will be a D I V O R C E if I get rid of sport surprised

Any ideas please?

ESPN is a cable network and to watch it you have to subscribe to a cable company that has ESPN on its list, such as Sky here. They dont stream the main ESPN over the internet.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Please don't use Hola or even recommend it - read why here: http://adios-hola.org/ - I'd personally consider it dangerous to have installed.

Streaming works no problem for me via a dns4me hosts file.

Find someone with sky and little need for the internet and use their skygo subscription.

I share my internet with the neighbour, they let me use their skygo

Per above, probably Sling TV is your best bet, with an unblocker like Unotelly. They have apps for many devices.

Is it dangerous if not enabled in the browser? turned off

I only use it for testing for when I'm ripping geo blocked streams.

First off good on you for getting rid of sky I'm a big sports fan so that was the reason I kept it for so long but getting rid of it was the best thing I ever did! :D Is it just ESPN you need or ESPN 2,3 aswell?

Here are some providers that are worth checking out (and that I have personally tried) will cost a monthly subscription, you may have to get a wee bit creative when signing up and like others said will have to use use an unblocker like unotelly or unblock-us but it's better than getting a divorce I guess lol.

Two things: First, for those who need a free test dns proxy, just use Stemr.tv. This is a great Danish proxy, better than Unotelly, and anyone can use it for free. They plan to start charging at some point in the future but I have been using it for 6 months as my main proxy and so far no-one has asked for money.

Second, I am not a sports fan so have no experience with ESPN but I do have access to services that require a cable account through my sister in the USA. I can't share that one but my point is that if you know anyone in the USA, or have relatives there, you may be able to find someone on cable (very common there) who would be willing to share their on-line account with you. This works for me because my sister has cable, but only watches it on her TV. She never uses the Internet option.

if you have an apple tv or roku, and you decide to get sling tv, it is one of the cable providers you can authenticate the espn app with, currently got the free trial of sling tv, and have the watchespn app authenticated, currently watching the sugar bowl through the app.
