I am on Farmside at home so no ability to stream movies etc. and no local video shop. So enjoyed many trips to local video shop while on holiday away from home, to catch up on missed movies. But the video shop has just closed! I have no landline at the beach with only my iPad on limited mobile broadband. Is my only option now to download movies onto my Laptop before I go away? And where can I download movies from - legally of course!
This might stretch the definition of legally a little, but BBC iPlayer + Unotelly 7 day free trial + download? Limited selection of course. Or just hire some DVDs from a video shop on your way to the bach?
Yeah, I was going to suggest the BBC iPlayer route as well. We used this to watch a few programmes we'd downloaded for offline viewing for when we stayed at my brother's house (2GB monthly limit!), and it worked perfectly.
Yes, narrow movie selection, but a good amount of excellent other content available (Great Pottery Throw Down anyone? Great viewing!).
I've seen mention here of free DNS services that some use as an alternative to paid-for ones like Unotelly or Getflix, which could be more viable long-term than a trial.
If you're ok about paying for content, surely there are heaps of services that allow you to download videos for later playback, eg iTunes.
xpd: Yup, Warehouse cheap bins :) Picked up some great Bluray movies there over the past couple of weeks for very little money.
We bought an entire months viewing at JBHIFI in Australia in November, kept us busy over the xmas period, for about $100. Will sell them on TM for half that I expect and was very convenient.
