Used Unotelly in the past but have recently moved to Dns4Me - everything works as expected except subtitles are still coming through even though I have set them to be blocked.

After trying all the usual things such as rebooting, switching to other regions etc., I raised a support ticket this morning. The answer I received was :

"Unfortunately Netflix made some changes a while back that made our subtitle blocker redundant."

So basically the subtitle blocker does not work - might be nice if there was a note on the services page about that!

Anyway, does anyone have a way around this on an AppleTV 3rd generation?

Cant you just turn them off on the AppleTV?

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/372

Enabling subtitles and Closed Captions + SDH on Apple TVs will require that you have Software Version 5.0 or later installed on the device.

To adjust subtitles and alternate audio while streaming on your Apple TV:

  1. Hold down the center button on your Apple TV remote.
  2. Select your preferred audio or subtitle language options.

To adjust Closed Captions + SDH while streaming on your Apple TV:

  1. Hold down the center button on your Apple TV remote.
  2. Select your preferred Closed Caption + SDH options.

Adjust and customize subtitles and closed captions:

Closed Captions + SDH must be adjusted from the Apple TV menu under Settings > General > Accessibility > Closed Captions + SDH before they can be adjusted in the Netflix app.

You can then customize the appearance of subtitles and closed captions on the Apple TV under Settings > General > Accessibility > Subtitles and Captioning > Style.

Hi robjg63

I did try switching it off on the AppleTV but it only gave me the option of switching between Spanish and Portuguese. I will have a look under the Accessibility settings tonight.

Guys our apologies. We have been working on a revamp of our backend and taking out the subtitles blocking option is part of that. Hopefully we will be rolling this out in the next month or so.

And yes, you are correct, we should have mentioned it on our website.

Yeah some regions you can't turn the sub titles off. It's by design according to Netflix.
