I have completely stopped watching the dumbed-down ad-saturated crap that is spewed out by broadcast television here. Fortunately, there is abundant quality content overseas to fill the gap. What I miss is news and current events with a kiwi accent, like some of the excellent programming Mediaworks used to do before the brain-eating zombies took over. Are there any New Zealand sites other than Ziln and Watch Me that I may have missed, or is there anything in the works? I just read an item on Radio NZ that suggests quality current events programming may be coming to the web. I sure wouldn't mind seeing some.

Have you gone through this list of video services available in New Zealand pinned in the Online streaming sub-forum yet?

I did early on and am again working my way through it now, but so far I don't really see anything I didn't already know about. It's good to keep up with developments, though.

Fred99:

Radio NZ Checkpoint site:

http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/checkpoint

After suggesting that, I thought I'd better check it out last night.

According to youtube, about 330 others joined me.

There was a serious problem with audio sync on the live feed - more than just a slightly noticeable - enough to be really annoying.

A cleaner way of viewing Checkpoint would probably be via its Freeview channel; when I've watched it via that means there's been no problems with audio/video sync.

See http://www.voxy.co.nz/business/5/243988 or similar articles.

Yup - thanks.  No Freeview HD here, I presume the satellite feed is audio only.

Without criticism of John Campbell, I wonder why Jesse Mulligan isn't perhaps shifted in to a role on that show.

"7 Sharp" show on TVNZ clearly didn't work, but listening to him on RNZ 1-4, he's got great interviewing technique, very quick-witted, doesn't seem to show bias or dominate - so puts interviewees at ease, and either researches or "wings it" convincingly on the subject being discussed.  A rare combination of talent IMO.

I do in fact enjoy Campbell on RNZ. We have UHF so I don't usually bother streaming.

Was okay tonight - audio was in sync.  200 or so viewing on line.
