Hi all

I have recently moved house and am now at an address with fibre 👍. My isp is voyager and so far so good except netflix wont load on on the chromecast or panasonic smart tv. The chromecast just says, "failed to play on the selected device" from the device you are trying to cast to it from, however the content plays fine on the device(iphone/ipad) The panasonic tv (connected by wire to router) just says uable to connect to Netflix, I go to more details and do a check network and it succeeds so im confused about that! Also my router is an older tp-link wr941nd running dd-wrt. Any suggestions is there any special router configuration required? I am running vlan 10 on the Wan.

Are you using your ISP's DNS? Are you using a third party-DNS? Have checked to see if there's no manual entries on these devices? Have you blocked any other DNS including Google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 before for some other service to work?

Nope no funny business this time round just regular old netflix nz, also i am running the standard voyager dns 114.23.1.1 and 114.23.2.2. Also in terms of the chromecast and Panasonic smart tv I seem to be able to access youtube fine.

Yup just standard isp dns servers. The devices dont have any manually configured dns entries, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 is not blocked as I Tried to set 8.8.8.8 manually on the panasonic tv and youtube continued to work but still nothing on netflix. Nslookups also succeeds fine for 8.8.8.8 thanks.

Do any other devices connect to NF? Your PC/Xbox etc?

Does a ping for Netflix find its up on lookup?

If all these work I suspect it's a pathing issue in your own network, if not then it's an ISP call to sort their pathing?

Yes so netflix works fine on my i devices and pc, I don't have the xbox 360 setup just yet, still unpacking. Ping returns the following:

C:\Users\User>ping www.netflix.com

Pinging www.us-west-2.prodaa.netflix.com [50.112.95.54] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 50.112.95.54:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

I tried this from my work connection and got a similar result.

So according to your diagnosis it must be a "pathing" issue, care to elaborate or help point me in the right direction on what to look for? The biggest issue is the two devices in question are the least technical devices and dont really have any tools to help

Okay so a further development is the Netflix app on my android tablet also does not load and gives the error when trying to sign in. "Please make sure that your device has network connectivity and the date and time settings are accurate (-3)" I did some googling but nothing much really and yes my device does have nw and date and time is correct.
