I only noticed just recently but I can't find any announcements about it, so appears to be a soft launch?

It's a bit subtle to get it working - I find if I play on an episode and then fire up the cast extension, the app doesn't start and the tab gets cast instead. It seems I have to ctrl-f5 before the cast icon will appear on the home page.
