I want to watch movies on my Sony smart tv with my DNS for certain legit services but I cant because no matter the routing the smart app picks up Im using a DNS service and wont let me watch. There is no work around so not wanting to discuss that.

Is a chromecast the easiest solution from our notebook or HTPC in another room (that has line of sight)? Can chromecast dns be set up so certain apps work and public DNS etc dont foil them working (ie google dns)?

I dont want to spend a lot like on an appletv when Im already investing in a gaming/htpc in another room.

If not whats the best way to stream from my HTPC to my TV wirelessly? (i did consider a 10m hdmi cable rofl)

Last alternative is to unplug it and plug it in every time i want to watch a movie on the big screen.

What's wrong with the HDMI cable option? You'll never beat an HTPC for flexibility.

Can you get the Plex app on your Sony TV? I know it is available for some models. You can install Plex server for free on the HTPC and the client on the telly, and off you go. Alternatively, a Chromecast will do the trick. It also has Plex but you can cast direct from your browser and probably other programs as well.
