I was a happy user of the unofficial Freeview NZ app for Kodi, as we don't have a dish or UHF antenna. That topic is closed so I can't reply there.

 

However, the app has suddenly stopped working. I can't find any mention of it on Geekzone or the internet? I can only find a video how to remove it...

 

Is there an alternative? I understand it's not official, but just looking for any suggestion.

 

I've got an Android TV Box with Kodi. See also my previous topic.

 

/edit: Ah, just found their Facebook post. They are working on it! See here.
Still curious if there are any other alternatives?

yeah I liked the addon.  A few years ago council planted trees between us and transmitter.  Now we have all these huge 40 to 50 foot high trees blocking our signal. Now had to go back to satellite freeview

The addon was using streams designed for education providers (also behind a paywall). The new streams that this updated version is using are from the tv3 etc websites, so not breaking any laws/rules AFAIK. You get easily take these streams from websites like http://www.tv3.co.nz/TV3Livestream.aspx and put them into a addon or a M3U playlist.

The addon is terminated , also the etv site made a number of changes.

 

I've my own playlist parked at www.apsattv.com/kiwitv.m3u

 

feel free to add it as a source in playlist loader or tv pvr

 

theres a private addon also, which is not going to be released, see video of an early version
