I thought there was a Rugby Pass thread, but I couldn't find it.

I have just re-subscribed to rugbypass for the Super Rugby season. Using DNS4me, I have no trouble accessing the site. Unfortunately I can't play any games. I get the 'ConnectionError' message. I have followed their trouble shooting guide, flushing my dns, clearing the cache etc but still won't work. Their support people have been unresponsive so I thought I'd open it up to the Geekzone community. I have spoken with DNS4me and Vodafone and they confirmed the problem is most likely at the rugby pass end.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Cheers

MHK

Yes I was having problems last week. Drove me nuts. I could only fix it by putting the DNS settings in the router instead of the htpc/iPad.

I'll give that a go tonight. It had crossed my mind. Thanks.

Interesting, my parents are keen to get setup again this week.

What device/s are you using?

Just a laptop which I connect to the TV with HDMI, and a Samsung Note 8 tablet. I have configured the dns on each device but will do it in the router tonight and see if it works. I'll let you know.

Is this still an issue? Looking to renew again after the very short summer break.

I was using rugbypass mostly just fine --  on a couple of occasions  I received this error while using the vpn.

My one complaint about rugby pass is that the picture did look a little odd, like it has a slightly lower frame rate  -- it was only a minor niggle though, and I'll probably resubscribe.

Also, rugbypass do not let you cancel the subscription online, that irks me.

Yes quite annoying that you have to contact support to unsubscribe.

I cancelled the subscription using the online chat. It only took 1 minute or two, so not a huge inconvenience.

Signed up my parents tonight. I tried their Windows 10 laptop, and it worked fine using the WIFI DNS settings (not router).

They have iPhones and iPad as well, so we'll see how that works soon.

Just note, sometime in the last 4 months DNS4ME have added rugbypass.com as a supported service (with tick box). If you previously used a custom domain setup for rugbypasss.com then it could still be listed and conflict with the service. I removed the custom domain, and used the tick box in the service section. It worked.

Extra note, when signing up you can use the promo code 'reddit' and get 25% off. :) Happy rugby streaming.

Why not just provide a 'cancel' button?

In dns4me what country do you use for Rugbypass?

Usually Singapore.
If it craps out I alternate with India.

HK seems to be the least reliable, but mostly it's just black magic to get it working again:

Clear cache,
Check DNS settings are correct in the router,
Swap regions,
Restart router,
Restart HTPC.
Clench your buttocks,
Abracadabra it works again.

I haven't resubscribed to RugbyPass so far this year. When I used it last year I had a Unotelly sub and didn't experience any problems. I was looking at subscribing to DNS4me mainly for this service but am having second thoughts now. Anyone got any feedback on using other DNS providers for RugbyPass?
