BBC iPlayer worked fine for me up until today when I started getting this message wen trying to view a programme (Windows 10 on Chrome on multiple computers)

"BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues."

I use Getflix DNS service at router level and haven't changed anything. Have had a look around the settings but nothing obvious to me going on there.

Is this happening to anyone else and does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: Should mention that ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, UKTV Play, etc all seem to be working fine

Weren't the UK government going to require a TV license for accessing the BBC shows via the Internet?

So unless you logged in with an account that had a TV license attached to it, you wouldn't be able to see it anywhere.....including in the UK.

That turned out to be a non event in the end, it just ask you if you have a licence now and then and you just click yes...

Turns out this is a Getflix issue and they are working on it

I have the same problem iPlayer/Getflix. I also tried using a VPN (StrongVPN) and that didn't work either.

Contacting StrongVPN they said the the BBC have blocked a lot of their endpoints, particularly the London ones. They suggested trying some of the others which did indeed work.

It looks like the Beeb have embarked on a "whack a mole" programme. Hopefully one day they will see the light and accept a licence fee from international users.

Quite often if you have hit the BBC site with your Browser in NZ, you will need to clear all the BBC cookies or open it in a private window.

Hmm... my iPhone BBC iPlayer works fine on PIA, but although no update shows in the App Store, the app promos for an update IN the app itself?

Might just take the punt (as I have family there I could get a licence reg from) and update it to feedback here... but really suspicious when it prompts to update but Apple store doesn’t 🤔

Are you logged into the UK iTunes store?

Then you might see the update there.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Hmm... used to get updates from all the stores by just putting in the different Apple ID passwords, but something has changed as you were right, when logging out and using the UK AppleID directly I see the update dated 18/7(!) and HATE the way IOS11 has gone with the App Store as it no longer shows update sizes unless you dig down into the details now 🙄

Still works on PIA after updating though (apparently update fixed an offline downloads issue)

I use Unblock-Us. A quick email to them, cleared the cache and we're back up and running.

Very quick reply to my email from the Unblock-Us customer services, so kudos to them for a good response.
