Basically what I'm trying to achieve is being able to play movies rented/bought from iTunes to my Samsung 4KTV in a seamless manner. I use Play Movies (app built into TV) but would like the option of using iTunes as well and it seems my only option is to buy ATV as casting via AirPlay from my iPhone isn't natively supported with chromecast and my only option is to convert Apples DRM files to a format that will work which is a process I want to avoid.
Is there any way to go about this without having to buy the pricey ATV unit as I would much prefer to pick up a Chromecast.
Problem is I'll have an ATV, PS4 Pro, and a Smart TV which essentially all do the same thing in terms of apps bar the ATV having iTunes. Spending $300 for the privilege seems like a stupid move if I could possibly cut the price by 2/3 and get a Chromecast if it's possible to cast a movie from iTunes.
Converting files is out of the question for me, I just want to have it as simple as possible. I'm still on the fence with ATV but if I used it as my primary media device then maybe it will justify the price.
I want to utilise 4K HDR more and iTunes, any ideas I have (probably) missed would be much appreciated.
