In addition to Amazon Prime, ITV and Channel 5 apps are now available. The BBC app has also been updated and all these apps now work with Apple's TV app.

This means that all the major UK TV channels are available on Apple TV with the exception of Channel 4.

You need a UK iTunes account. The apple TV allows you to switch between accounts easily and remembers the password. I have UK, US and NZ accounts. Plenty of instructions on line about setting up iTunes without a credit card.

When you're logged into the Apple TV with a UK iTunes account, visit the app store and download the apps. If you change the account on the Apple TV back to your NZ iTunes account the UK apps are still on the home screen and still function.

I have BBC, ITV, Channel 5, TVNZ, Three (NZ), Netflix (US), Hulu, HBO, Showtime, The CW - all on my home screen and all working perfectly.  I tend to leave the US account active by default - more content on iTunes, usually released before NZ and slightly cheaper too. I top up my US iTunes account with virtual iTunes vouchers which are easily purchased online.

Bugger I was going to get one but unsure of the apple system asked at Noel Leeming.but no one had the answers you have supplied, bought intel nuc but that's proving hard work to get Uk content and yes I have purvpn which is a bit temperamental.

i recently bought an ipad and set it up with a UK account and vpn works ok with that.  So I should be able to cast if I had an apple tv with UK content via vpn?

Yes. It’s a pretty similar setup for the it the iPad and Apple TV. And while you can airplay (oh which a 3 if you can get one will do). The 4 will have native bbc itv and channel 5 apps.

I do have them (I have nz, UK and us iTunes accounts and apps for all three on my Apple TV.)
