First time user of this,

Wow took me 25mins to get signed up and logged in,

All to watch a Documentary about the Vietnam war,  when watching via the internet browser on My Sony Android TV is so clunky, every-time there is an add brake its reverts back to the start, or its just sits there, with a big blank greyed out piece, and then have to work way fwd to back were you want to be

I tried to used Kodi Tv addon, but of course its not compatiable, till V18

any hints before that come

Thanks

Any reason you are using the cludgy browser when there's a native android client option? Assuming you can find it in the Sony store of course. (believe it is part of the reason for developing the android client..)

It's highly scripted for HTML5, so if it's not a PC it's going to struggle.

Which Kodi addon? most of us have been using MH version for some time just fine. Just checked and still working on my 17.6 install

The other option is use the smart phone and cast to it if it accepts such things.

I have a Sony TV.

I Hit the Green coloured button (from the red green yellow blue buttons on remote) starts the Freeview Plus app, from there I select TVNZ or TV3 which takes me into their respective ondemand apps.

Funny to hear they're up to their old tricks and haven't bothered fixing it.

I had that same issue for months and months on my Android Tablet until I gave up and just started Pirating the shows. Thanks TVNZ, for once again proving Piracy is indeed a service you pay for (through tax, and Ad revenue).

If it ain't 4.3 (we can't inject Ads or DRM control) it ain't android.

Apparently.

You open the previously working fine copy on a Samsung device after switching from samsung store to early playstore version.. it, it says you need to update the app. Go to store, has images of tablets all over it 'not designed for this device'

@Oblivian, using a mix of MH and Apvsatt, but like i said a pop up happens that says its not comptable till v18

@djtOtago, this works way better thanks

This is why you shouldn't rely on the "smarts" in your "Smart TV".

Only device I use is the Apple TV 4. Works great with the TVNZ app, +HR=E (or however they spell that), and a whole lot more.

Like you said? No, you said  "but of course its not compatiable, till V18"

Not, it goes but something pops up during which caused the confusion.

Presumably then the Kodi you tried is referring to an Android ARM based Kodi player that it apparently needs nightly 18 for?... you'll have to excuse my original questioning since it wasn't specified.

The issue of going back to main menu after an add is a common bug on tvnz on demand app, I waited a year for them to fix it on panosonic blue ray player. There are lots of similar compliants about the same issue on other devices. I only use the Apple TV app now it’s great had no issues

Indeed. Referred to a couple of times. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/service-updates

Price paid for trying to lock it down/jam in cross platform ads I guess

Good timing of thread.

I have a Sony Smart. Used to have the problem with TVNZ app (via pressing green on freeview functions).

I say used to as last night I decided to hard boot the tv and test it (we have sky so dont need to use the app much).

Set up a program for the mrs to watch and it played ok after the first advert. I need to test it out a bit more when time permits.

I also took the oppurtinity to set the TV to use IPV6 and ensure all the apps /software was up to date.

The Apple TV app is brilliant. It's one of the best of its kind around, well thought out UI and with plenty of content. They were very late coming to the Apple TV party, but they've done it well.

If you think that is bad then you should try using TVNZ app on the Xbox - what a notorious peace of crap that dies every 20 minutes where as with the YouTube/Netflix/everything else it is smooth sailing. Did managers son who is 'good with computers' put together the application because that is what it seems like.
