How deliciously ironic: I wanted to watch a Brian Cox documentary on TV1 On Demand but TVNZ got all precious about it and wouldn’t play the video. On Android they cried that their DRM wasn’t up to that yet or some such rubbish and on the pc they said I was prohibited from viewing the content for some other reason I don’t recall. So I did a quick search, found it on another site, and watched it without problem (and with a lot fewer ads).

The ironic part is that the ads were all for TV1 On Demand!tongue-out

No issues with the tvnz ondemand app on our Apple TV.
Only that it took them a long time to get it on there!

Couldn't agree more. I now use this to watch free to air TV and don't use my TV aerial at all. I finally have one box to rule them all.

I moved my TV in 2014 and didn't bother reconnecting the aerial. Almost four years later I still haven't found any reason to do so.

That's great for you - I've been trying to use freeview plus as provided on sony tv. These is an official and supported platform yet it doesn't work.

Is it any wonder TPB et al are so popular?

Not that i do that, I just watch something else (like @Rikkitic without the ads).
