Can anyone tell me if the Amazon Fire TV will connect to NZ Netflix so I can play shows on my NZ Netflix account? I searched around Geekzone before posting but couldn't find an answer to my question. Everyone seems to focus on loading Kodi. Been there done that on other devices and sick and tired of poor streaming/connections. They keep pulling content from Add-ins and I'm just so over it yell. Netflix is cheap enough and it "just works".

Do I need to subscribe to any Amazon services to get Netflix on the Fire TV? I really just want Netflix (and perhaps YouTube), without having to subscribe to Amazon services.

Thanks!

Yes it does - this was one of the main reasons I bought a Fire TV in the first place.

The only issue was pretending I was in the States in order to install the Netflix app. But then it worked fine with my Netflix NZ account

Has the NZ Netflix caught up caught up with the US one yet? I'm currently seeing the USA content and last time I looked it was noticeably different but NF had a stated intention of working them closer.

There's lots of content that is available in both, in one or another. I am using the NZ version and there isn't much that I want that's not there.

Law and Order SVU was always one I looked for (if I turn off the DNS thingy it would disappear)

Thanks so much for all the feedback everyone. It sounds exactly what we are looking for. The next hurdle is buying one, as I see Amazon don't ship them to NZ directly. I guess I can use NZPost's USA mailing service (YouPost?).

Thanks again.

Correct. Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire TV Stick do not ship to NZ but you can use YouShop. Also the links are the Geekzone affiliate ones, so you can use those for ordering.

Thanks for the links. Now, before I hit the Add to Cart button...

Should I be considering the Roku system instead? Perhaps it's more open to other channels than the heavily Amazon-biased Fire-TV?

Would I be able to hook into NZ Netflix on Roku hardware? If so, it may be more practical than the Fire-TV do you think?

Thanks
Gary

Thanks for the confirmation. Now to decide which one.... A YouTube comparison between the two showed I can rearrange the app tiles on the Roku to display favourites first, which appeals. From what I saw, Amazon positions their own stuff first without any options to hide or rearrange. They both appear fantastic value for money, so I'm sure we'll be happy with either.

I think Roku is our best option, due to two things: the built-in volume control and the fact it can be shipped to NZ (unlike the FireTV), for the very reasonable sum of US$6.93.

Can someone please post a Geekzone affiliate link to the Roku Streaming Stick?

Many thanks

Just use the previous link for Fire TV and search Amazon from there.
