seems TVNZ have decided to remove some functionality in the latest update. I used to be able to start watching One News after it had started and rewind to the start (if accessed vis the program menu as opposed to live TV). Now you can only watch live or wait for the recording to show up after 7pm which isn't in HD.

I can't see why they need to remove this so I'm hoping its just a bug. Have sent them an email so will see what comes back. This is pretty much the only thing I use the app for but if I can't rewind to the start when its being broadcast I'll need to use the built in recording function in my TV - no more "one box" solution.

Maybe it is to force you to watch more quality advertising?

could be, as the same functionality allowed me too fast forward through the ads.

That would be it. Too much advertising is already being interrupted by TV series and news......   :-)

The sad thing is, albeit funny to be the potential reason. It's possibly likely.

It keeps being removed or dumbed down on smartTVs, and the reports all seem to be black screens when trying to play at adbreaks or not returning to normal after em. And the quickest route appears to be disable the app totally.

yes, funny but true maybe, its not hard to FFW through ad breaks, but often streaming does not allow that

I have also noted this change - very annoying.

What email address did you use to feedback to them? I will do the same.

Is the TV news worth watching? I haven't watched any NZ broadcast news for years. Too often it used to consist of one piece of news, followed by politicians, someone "on location" which didn't add any value, and major sports news,, a "feel good" human interest story (especially on weekends), followed by sports news.

@Bluntj they could of course take away all advertising but that will also take away free to air TV

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

It still seems to be working in the old manner for me .

I go to the One news link, the current show is listed as.live, it jumps it at the current point, but you can rewind back to the beginning

As far as I can tell I have the latest version

You are quite correct Mike, however I feel we are blasted everywhere with advertising and it seems to getting out of control. You have reminded me that I will subscribe to Geekzone in the next couple of weeks rather than adblocking.

Or they could sell a limited advertising option like hulu do.

Nowdays I am very reluctant to take ad supported products, if FTA tv was to launch now as a competitor to paid streaming services I think they would be hard pressed to get any viewers to sell to their customers.

Noticed this as well...roght royal pain as we used to simply start the news 5,10-20mins or even 45 mins later... depending on what we were doing.

Ads were not a problem...we just let it play though in the background anyway.

Right time to complain to them...

I suspect that's not the latest version. A new one was pushed about a week a go. Do you have your ATV set to auto update apps?

Yep, I do

About a week ago would be the 5th :)

Weirdly the online version of the app store says it should be 2.50, am assuming there is a different version for the AppleTV
