Are these media players any good. xiami mi box S.

And is the operating system upgradeable.

I have an original Mi Box (same specs as the S) for me it is perfect, however if you want 4k or HDR I would consider a Nvidia Shield. The OS is not user upgradeable as the bootloader is very locked down, however Xiaomi seems relatively committed to updates recently.

Currently on Android 8. Security updates pushed almost every month. Not sure if they will upgrade it to android P.

Mi box S has more RAM and more power. Hard to beat for the price.
