CNN video autoplay is really irritating. There are complaints about it all over the web. Yes, you can just not watch CNN but some of us still want to. Because of changes to the CNN player, none of the posted blockers work any longer, at least not for Chrome.

After much searching, I finally found something that actually does work. This involves adding a custom command to uBlock Origin, which everyone should have anyway. This completely stops all videos from playing on the CNN site, but it is easy to temporarily disable the blocking if you actually want to play something just by clicking on the uBlock extension.

I am posting this here for the benefit of anyone else who wants to just browse the CNN site but hates the autoplaying videos as much as I do. Enjoy!
