I just re-installed the Amazon Prime video app on my Android media player. There are some new series being produced by Amazon in the near future which I want to see, but I cannot find any mention of whether they will be available in NZ.

I browsed through the TV shows available on the Amazon Prime video site, but I cannot find any way to filter out the majority of shows which are labelled with "This title isn't available in your location" to see what exactly they are providing.

The price just doesn't seem to be justified. Am I missing something? Is there an up-to-date list someplace of what I can view in NZ?

[edit] Ok I found a listing of what is available for my account. It looks like I will be able to watch The Boys, at least.

Have to say the majority of sci fi and action shows which I would want to rewatch are not available here.

I seem to paying next to bugger all for prime and watching grand tour, the tick and a few other things all in 4k !

I don't think I've noticed any of thier "Amazon Originals" being region blocked. They seems to be producing some good quality shows, no where near the amount that Netflix make, but I think better quality.

Last Flag Flying (a movie that I shouldn't have sat through) is not available on Prime NZ despite being an Amazon original.

Amazon Prime Video seems very US-centric to me. So far it's nowhere near as good as Netflix for variety and quality.

The Expanse, I'd happily get a Prime sub just for the fact they picked that up after it was dropped

They're also going to be the international streaming service for Star Trek: Picard (and most likely the subsequent Star Trek Discovery Spin-offs from CBS)

Makes you wonder who is getting it then. Watched 1-2 on Netflix been waiting for season 3 to hit online here, Lightbox has 1-2 now but it now shows it as leaving soon which you would think means they wont have season 3 if they don't have 1-2 anymore.

Thought it would hit Amazon prime video when it hit the US reactivated my account only to find out nope not in NZ. Then thought it may hit them when their deal with Lightbox expired.

Just have to keep waiting I guess 😡.

Overall I am ok with my Prime Video sub. At $2.99 US for the first 6 months, it was great value. The biggest bug was the no Chromecast (but that is coming yay). I have watched a few shows and if you are into horror The Purge is well done (I found it too much and gave up). I have never seen this "not available in NZ" so maybe I am just on the NZ version and there seems quite a bit. I agree tho that if a choice Netflix with the individual user setup, chromecast, the bigger catalogue is better. But I do like the shows offered better on Prime. It seems to suggest things I like whereas Netflix I find worse. I also have mine set for Audio Description (for the blind) and both companies support that very well. Something that deserves a huge well done.

I never got any $2.99 offer, it's $12 or $13 or somewhere around there.

My main reason for restarting with it was to get The Expanse, with a little interest in seeing Anthony Starr in the new series by Kripke, but if The Expanse is not included the rest of their offerings are looking as poor as what Netflix has left that I haven't watched.

And I have to say that Netflix seem to be pouring their cash into some dubiously low quality stuff these days.

Not confusing Amazon "Prime Video" with "Amazon Prime", are you? Prime Video is certainly not that expensive.

Amazon Prime includes as part of itself Prime Video. If you don't want all the Amazon stuff you can get Prime Video on its own from NZ. Cost $2.99 US per month for first 6 months then $5.99 per month. It also gives you 1 free twitch sub per month. This is what I have.
