Apparently the entire BBC with all associated websites has been brought down by a massive DDos attack. Bits and pieces are coming back now but it is still patchy. Just in case anyone wonders what is going on.

BBC News via iPlayer web interface all morning and noticed nothing unusual.

I followed a link to BBC.com and just got dns error. I tried several times with different links, also iplayer and BBC news. After some time I was able to get to BBC.COM and UK but not all sites. I did a search and found an Independent article about the attack. I kept checking the BBC sites and gradually they started coming back. Maybe everything is up again.

Edit: Just tried again and got a 404 error.

There is definitely something going on here but the article I saw turned out to be an old one and is not relevant. This may be related to my DNS proxy. Not sure but I still can't get through to some BBC sites.

Yeah OK, I clicked on BBC One and got a DNS error and now can't get News stream back.

Looks like an issue with my DNS. I disabled it and BBS sites worked normally. When I first encountered the problem I did a quick search for 'BBC down' and jumped on the first result that popped up without checking the date. My bad. As you were.
