Hi,

I'm looking at the free trial of Kayo. Couple of questions though:

Do I need an AU mobile number to sign up? (The sign up form has mobile required)

What DNS services is anyone who is using Kayo using (I'll be using an AppleTV)? Does it affect the other NZ services (Spark Sport, Lightbox, TVNZ and TV3) or Netflix?

You will need an OZ mobile for the verification code yes.  I tried all the free OZ SMS services and couldn't get one to work so gave up and asked an OZ friend.

DNS4me works and it doesn't affect any other services, they specifically have support for it.

I also asked a friend in Oz and have only needed the 2FA code at signup.

Also use DNS4me.  I found whenever my IP address changed i needed to log into DNS4Me and update the IP address there but now I've got a static IP i no longer need to do that.
It works pretty well and I won't be getting Spark Sport for the RWC as it'll be on Kayo as well.
Lightbox and Netflix work well and haven't tried SparkSport but i don't see why it'll have any issues.
I updated my router to use the DNS4me DNS servers and blocked the Google DNS servers for Chromecast.

Hope this helps

Some apps use smart services to determine if a page activity is suspicious and only then ask for 2FA... You may be lucky but if you try using somewhere else you might be asked for the code (unless this is only used to make sure you are in AU at the time of the registration, and not a security feature).

I've also cancelled my Kayo account and then re-activated without having to re validate via the OZ SMS thing.

Any suggestions how a 'Nigel no Australian Mates' gets an Ozzie sim?

I’m currently in Australia, and have a sim. Flick me a PM if keen to sign up.

2FA seems to only be required at registration.  Haven't needed it since even when logging in on new browsers etc. so i don't think it's a security feature.

There is already a thread in the unblocking forums regarding this: https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=178&topicid=242678

If you don't have access to the above link, just PM me. But more of the nitty-gritty is discussed there.
