Well probably not movies, maybe TV series, but what happens if I buy a TV series from the above. Can I download it, is it downloaded automatically when I buy it, can Amazon just take it away, can I back it up to keep it safe from Amazon.

I've had a google, but didn't find that much, though maybe I didn't use the correct terminology.

You can stream only. I've only bought one TV series as all the other ones we watch are available on Netflix or other similar services so don't know if they can remove access but I guess this could be a possibility.

Strange. I regularly download from Prime Video onto my ipad to watch when I am out of cell and wifi coverage (which is everyday on the Wairarapa line).

Hmmm. Thanks. That puts me off a bit.

Actually, have been dying to get a box set of Hill Street Blues and though about this, as some of the on-line Amazon Hill Street are apparently in HD. Also tried to check out a DVD box set from Amazon, but will they send it to NZ - no, course not, despite being sold by Amazon Export Services. Oh well, time for a little eBaying I think.

Oh yes, but you can't download in the sense the OP asked - to save it in case Amazon retires the content from the catalog.

You can use https://playon.tv to record from Amazon, Netflix etc. The lifetime licence for a PC is the best option. I use it occasionally to record movies and TV if I know I will be somewhere without internet. It is a lot less use now that Netflix and Amazon allow offline viewing. I have never bothered with the cloud recording as it isn't the best value for money.

Also note that it records in real time so if you are recording a 10 episode series it will take approx 10 hours....

If you want a referral you can use this: http://www.playon.tv/refer-a-friend/rafid/MjAxMDgw

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

I've got PlayOn and I do record (overnight usually), but in this particular case its just not available (only Amazon UK has Hill Street and thats only for 2 series)

OBS is a pretty good screen recorder if you are prepared to go that route.
