I've Googled this, but my phrasing must be wrong because I can't even find people asking the question.

When a new release movie, which isn't a "Netflix Original", is added to the service they are always only SDR and almost always only HD. Why don't they get them in 4K (and more importantly) HDR/Dolby Vision?

It's frustrating when it's a movie you want to see, you've paid good money for a 4K HDR TV and the Netflix Ultra HD plan - but only get the movie in HD and SDR.

I've quit Netflix at the moment. I find it really bad that they charge approx 25% more subscription above HD and then third party movies and most third party series are not 4k/HDR. Bumblebee is one example 4k/HDR Apple TV and only HD Netflix.

I suppose the way would be to pay 4k fee one month and just watch originals, then pay HD another to watch other content, but a bit inconvenient.

On AppleTV Bumblebee is Rental, whist it is included in Netflix subs in HD.

I agree it would be great to see more 4K on Netflix - or an easier way to see what content is in 4K.
