Hi All,

I have just moved house and took my Panasonic 65DX900 with me. This has the Firefox OS.

Unfortunately where I now live there is no chance I can have an aerial and I tried to install TVNZ On demand app but Panasonic support just advised me that this TV wont support the TVNZ app which is a major shame. Not sure if anyone has any hacks on that one?

I can either replace the TV (expensive option) or has anyone managed to install TVNZ On demand onto an Amazon Firecube? Or any other method to stream NZ channels on a Firecube?

Thanks
Al

Sideload Kodi onto Firecube, install Matthew Huisman/Sly Guy's app from their Repository, install NZ IPTV (this is what I did and works perfectly)

Sorry, I can't help you with the TVNZ On Demand app. I also have a Panasonic 65DX900, and would like that as well. There's a number of mostly useless (except YouTube and NetFlix) apps that are pre-installed, but I can't find any way to install anything myself. How can you install anything not available in their meagre version of Google Play Store?

My solution to this was to buy a "Chromecast with Google TV" (i.e. Android TV), which should be arriving in the next few days.

I bought a 'chromecast with google tv' - not officially released in NZ yet but available here
https://www.einfo.co.nz/google-chromecast-4th-generation-with-google-tv.html around $120.

PBtech also seemed to have them in store but not on the website - $138 I recall.

You can load the 3now and tvnz on demand app from the google play store - as well as any other goodies like netflix, amazon, neon etc.

If you have a fire tv cube, you only option would be to install kodi and then install the nz freeview addons. Mucking about with kodi is a bit fiddly and the interface of the nz freeview addon is pretty basic - but works well once set up.

If you already have the cube you should give that a crack first i reckon.

Edit: installing kodi on fire tv

Installing the repository for Freeview apps etc once you have kodi installed.

Have a look through the add-ons he has in that package - there are quite a few.

There's no smart TV in my house, but the Xbox One and PS4 and Chromecast and Freeview STB between them, give me basically every mode. Sufficient that i've never felt the urge to upgrade specifically to a SmartTV, or to deploy Kodi.
