We are dropping SkyTV there are a few UKTV shows that my wife enjoys that are also on Acorn TV. So as the thread title says what do current users of Acorn think?

Is it reliable?

what is the resolution as I can't find that in their FAQ?

Does it keep up to date with shows etc ?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

We use it regularly for some UK shows. It's reliable and the quality is good (HD video). As for keeping up, they do release new shows and seasons regularly but we don't follow some of them to know how long between their release and availability on streaming.

We found it easy to use and reliable. The price is pretty good as well. However we weren't happy with the range of titles available and have cancelled.

Being in the older age range we find that Acorn TV is aimed at our viewing preferences.

The price is good.

We have an Android TV setup and use the Acorn app via that and I find that a little less clunky than using the website and Chromecasting.

You can get a 7 day free trial to test it out https://signup.acorn.tv/createaccount.jsp

We are also hoping that Britbox will start up here in New Zealand soon. https://help.britbox.com/hc/en-us

My wife really likes British crime and mystery shows. I do like Midsomer Murders. Acorn seem to have a lot of this genre.

Also enthusiastic "older" users of Acorn TV here. On second-to-last episode of Foyle's War at present - great series btw. Using the Acorn TV app on a Mi Box 3. Have had the very occasional glitch, which may be to do with a particular DNS service - never quite got to the bottom of it.

Interesting because I use Acorn TV with no DNS interference because the NZ catalogue is that good.

Yeah it's a bit weird because I don't actually have a DNS entry set for Acorn TV, but have had the occasional time when a series is listed, but when you go to play it, there is an error about it not being available. Disabling the DNS service completely on the Mi Box fixes it. I suspect it's some combination of other "grouped" services getting in the way. The DNS service provider has given a couple of suggestions, but I've not ever figured it out.

Thanks heaps folks for the feedback. Now to ring Sky to cancel. Sky needs to make cancellation, or deductions from service an online process. I know they want the opportunity to retain but the way you win back a customer starts at the time they cancel. Make a pain to cancel lessens the change of win back considerably.

But if they don't have you on the phone how can they convince you to stay?
