Yet another subscription increase. This is becoming an annual event. Just received:

Thank you for subscribing to Apple TV+. We wanted to let you know about an upcoming change to this subscription.

Apple is raising the price of this subscription from $12.99 per month to $14.99 per month. Your subscription will automatically renew for $14.99 per month starting 22 December unless you cancel at least one day before.

I wouldn't say "cheap", but I think it's still pretty good value. Not sure I'd pay too much more though.

AppleTV+ is the service I just pick up for a couple of months a year. Now that Ted Lasso has finished, it won’t even need to be that much.

Finding it increasingly difficult to justify full time subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ as well.

The Apple One Family plan is $40 per month (after the recent increase) and includes

Apple Music Family $26

iCloud+ 200GB storage $5

Apple TV+ $15

Apple Arcade $13

Since I'd be getting Music and Storage anyway, the TV is basically $9 and I get arcade for free. It's actually a pretty good deal since the entire family gets all of it and Apple TV has some decent stuff on it.

Personally I find the content on apple tv lacking. Movies are available but for extra $$$, which is poor.

I've watched the 3x long way series which is the only thing I really enjoyed.

When my free trial (work ipad) ends , I wont be extending it.

We had it free for a year, don't think we watched a single thing.  Perhaps improved more in recent times but content seemed lacking compared to others.

We have adopted the subscribe and binge model.  Sign up, watch everything we wan't, then cancel and move on to the next service.  Rinse & repeat.

I think it’s very much a matter of YMMV depending on personal taste; while I don’t have an ongoing sub, when we do have ATV I find it easier to find something I want to watch than on Netflix, for example. And what I watch I’ve typically enjoyed more.

From my perspective, ATV has had some excellent series - Slow Horses, Severance, Silo; other good ones like Hijacked, Shrinking, Bad Sisters; and ones we’ve enjoyed watching with our teenager such as Dickinson and Ted Lasso… I’d say that’s a better hit rate for my family than Netflix or Prime.

It’s been that price for a while. I looked a couple of months ago and saw that they wanted $14.99 to subscribe and thought it was higher  then perviously. They must be hitting the continuous subscribers now.

I really like the Foundation, so will just subscribe for a month when a new one is fully available. Other than that without a deal will not subscribe to Apple TV. There’s other programs I like on it to, but can get bigger range else where for $15.

We have been rationalising our subscriptions recently. Individually none of them is expensive, but as a package they are starting to add up to a material drain on the household budget and, to be honest, we weren't watching a lot of TV so it was getting hard to justify.

Dropped Netflix, another one my wife had (forget the name) and our moved Spotify to a cheaper tier.  That leaves Disney and Prime as the two we currently have (got Prime on a very cheap deal). We will probably keep Disney because of the kids programming, and rotate our second sub between various different services from time to time until we have watched what we want to see and move on. Will probably drop Sky just after Christmas as our sport viewing has plummeted over the last 12 months - we were going to cancel it a while ago, but hung onto it because of the COVID lockdown.

My trusty Jellyfin server will have to fill any gaps..... (I video capture a lot of stuff off Sky and other services etc that looks interesting, have done so for a long time now since I originally hooked a DVD recorder up to a UHF box over 20 years ago, and could probably coast on unwatched inventory alone for several years).
