I've had ongoing problems losing CCAudio from my network, always resolved by Network Reset. Now it has happened with my Googletv. My Google browser does not find it as a Cast destination and Network Reset does not restore it. However I have no problem using it in the normal way using the provided remote to access streaming services.

I want to cast o/seas tv using my VPN, something which worked perfectly well until a few days ago.

Does it work for random content without VPN active?

No, it doesn't appear as a Cast destination even when VPN is off.

Just checked my smartphone Tidal.  It appears there as available Cast destination and it's playing currently.

Does it work from Chrome browser on that device, and do you have Chrome on a non-mobile device to try?

I have kicked it back into action as a Cast destination.

Using Chrome browser went to Channel4(UK) Login page [I'm already registered with email and UK postcode]

Switched my VPN to UK and logged in.

Found the prog. I wanted to watch and used the CC icon on the page.

TV appeared as a Cast destination and everything was OK.

After watching the prog. I closed the Channel 4 page and checked the CC icon on my Chrome browser.

HURRAH!!!! TV now appears as a Cast destination.

Bugger! TV has vanished again as a destination from my Google CC browser. I watched/cast from it last night but today it's no longer there. I suppose I can try again the process I described in my last post but would prefer a solution that is permanent.

Phew!!! Back to normal (I hope).

This may help if anyone else has problems.

Googletv remote was only operating Home button and On/Off. Changed batteries, no change. Home app on android phone showed TV being Offline.

Unplugged Googletv dongle. Started up again and tv screen gave instructions for pairing Remote.

That restored full function of remote.

Dug down into Settings  on Googletv and found WiFi was switched off. Changed that to ON and everything was back to normal, including Casting from Google Chrome browser.

Disaster. I've now lost both Googletv and CCAudio on my laptop. Neither show as Cast destinations. But both show up on my android phone. Googletv works normally using its own remote.

I would appreciate some advice.

It's usually always if you're going through 2 routers/aps (or network) and one of them doesn't have uPnP multi cast enabled to forward the broadcast packets.

So If you're on the same wifi AP and SSID, and 2.4 /5 as the cast device will be fine, until your device roams onto another.

Describe your network and explain how and what initiates the VPN circuit, i.e., a router, your laptop or what.

Sorry, there seems to be some misunderstanding. The problem has nothing to do with my VPN. When I try to cast anything from my Google browser my tv does not appear as a Cast destination. But Googletv works using it's own remote.

And when you say "network reset" what do you mean exactly - what do you do??

Laptop, android phone and Googletv are all on 2.4 network.

"Network reset" is under Advanced Network Settings from Settings> Network&Internet > Status. I just click, I have no idea how it works apart from restoring my CCAudio. Doesn't seem to help with restoring Googletv.

I've checked a 2nd laptop this arvo. Same problem there.
