Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this - I've paid for YouTube premium for many years, but recently have been getting interstitial audio ads pushing the purchase of the YouTube premium service I already pay for.

This is only when I cast music though - no ads appear on YouTube video, and I can play YouTube Music perfectly fine on my phone, but if I try casting from my phone to either a Google Home device or one of my audio Chromecasts I get a short advertisement after the first song. This also occurs if I request the music directly from a Google home device.

I've also checked that my Google Home devices recognise me as the correct Google account holder and have also confirmed that my subscription is current.

I had a quick look, but couldn't see recent discussion about this behavior on the internet, so thought I'd check to see if it was just me. To add injury to insult, I also see that my YouTube premium price is about to increase from $17.99 to $22.99, which makes it especially annoying that I am not receiving the ad free service I'm paying for.

This started for me yesterday. Same situation. Long time premium subscriber. Had been using various headphones during the day then went to cast it to the sound är while I cooked dinner and I was getting ads almost every song.

I posted in annoyed thread 🤣

I just testing now. Onto fourth song without Ads.

I’m testing on TCL Google TV so guessing it’s a chrome-cast type connection to TV.

Maybe a bug that is fixed now….

There’s also a music option in YouTube itself, on YouTube Home Screen scroll bar at top, that has all etc, and select music, and try casting from YouTube. Music saved folders are also in Library section as well. Maybe as a temp work around.

Hopefully an unintended happening on YouTube’s part and it’s fixed now or will be fixed if setup dependant.

Ah just checked again. The very first ad is one suggesting getting premium to avoid ads 🤦

This is YouTube Music on my phone casting to the Soundbar with the TV off. I don't like to use a "Bluetooth" connection as it will play audio notifications and default to a voice call. Casting means if I get a call I can answer on headphones, and the music will continue to play in the room and I can chat away.

Yep, maybe the device casting to needs to be logged into YouTube.

Goggle searches show that the device casting to needs to be linked to your YouTube premium account or be plugged into another device that is, and cast to that device.

Though from sounds of it all was working without ads until recently.

Yep and that's why it's odd. My phone, laptop and the main TV are all signed into YouTube Premium. The soundbar is a dumb device as far as I can tell but I might go give it the ole windows restart and see if that does anything 😂

Something odd is definitely going on. I'm repeatedly getting the "Something went wrong, please give it another try" audio prompt when I'm selecting a song.

I give up.

I'm having the same issue too.  I have a YouTube Premium account - no ads on phone or when using Bluetooth to the stereo.

But when I cast to it (a WIIM) I get the ads. It only started happening the last couple of weeks. It has been working fine for years. So annoying.

And the subscription is going up.  I think I'll take my custom elsewhere...  Tidal or Spotify I guess.
