andrewchen: I would have thought 14 days, but also you should be able to dismiss the notification inside the app if you've already seen it.

Cheers. I don't see anywhere obvious to dismiss the alert. Will see what happens after 14 days has passed.

As an aside I also received a text message today advising me that I am a close contact and was exposed on 23 Feb. LOL

Is any sort of Contract Tracing being done with the Bluetooth side of things? I've noticed my Matched Key count has dropped from a high of 19 all the way down to 3 but can still see regular uploads are happening. With the number of cases being reported daily I would have expected this figure to keep climbing.

Latest data from the Ministry of Health says yes - hundreds of people uploading Bluetooth keys each day, thousands of notifications being generated: https://github.com/minhealthnz/nzcovidtracer-data/blob/main/bluetooth-usage/2022.csv

Data only up until 2nd March and even that shows a decline in the last couple of days until 2nd March.

When I responded to the MOH questionnaire a few days ago they only 'recommend' that people share their Bluetooth tracking codes and they only show the instructions after you press Yes to wanting to share information (which I presume a good number of people are not going to do). And they are only asking people to share specific COVID app diary entries relevant to to high risk locations only so they are purposefully asking people not to share the vast majority of diary entries (hence people are unlikely to get notifications of exposure from what they deem low-risk locations).

To be honest the thought of contact tracing now seems far fetched -- contact tracing has outlived its usefulness especially in Auckland. The app really should be retired sooner rather than later as it's not adding much value to contact tracing.

What's it even for at this point? When we went to phase 3 they said they would no longer track locations of interest, and that close contacts are a thing of the past and only household contacts are a 'thing' now. I know a few people who don't scan in any more because of these statements.

Why retire a tool that you may still need to use? We will get to the other side of the Omicron wave at some point (Phase 3 isn't "the end"), and depending on what that looks like, we may have a chance at suppression or elimination again. In that scenario, we will want to be using this tool again to help support contact tracing that will kick back in.

Right now scanning in isn't doing a lot other than keeping your own record that you can provide in the self-reporting form if you choose to (but even then it's only the highest risk locations that they will look into). But the Bluetooth Tracing is still running autonomously without too much human intervention from the contact tracers so that's not a bad thing. People still want to use the information available to them to assess their own risk, getting a Bluetooth Tracing notification is one thing that might influence that.

Again, we're old enough to wipe our own butts. 'they' don't have to. It's now individuals that do. And there is still a team. Read a couple of posts. If you go somewhere like a old folks home. Rat negative that day and positive the next. Bet your behind 'they' will be concerned. And still on you to advise and alert others.

Have just switched to a new phone. Though the app came across fine, none of my data has. What is the simplest way to transfer the data onto the new phone? Eg. My Diary, Saved Locations, NHI number, Contact Details, etc?

Old phone still works, though has a new SIM in it.

Friday.. left that messaging a bit late

We are still using Bluetooth tracing as part of our response to COVID-19. Bluetooth tracing is a helpful way to get an early warning of exposure to COVID-19, and send anonymous notifications to close contacts if you test positive.

➡Make sure that Bluetooth tracing is turned on from the dashboard of your NZ COVID Tracer app. It works in the background as long as you have the app installed and Bluetooth tracing turned on.

➡If you test positive for COVID-19 make sure you fill out the contact tracing form and upload your Bluetooth tracing keys as soon as possible. This will send out fast, anonymous notifications to people who have been in contact with you.

➡If you get a Bluetooth notification, watch out for symptoms and get a test if you feel unwell.

The date shown on the notification is approximate. So, if you did not leave the house on the date shown, the exposure may have been on the afternoon of the previous day.

Find out how to turn Bluetooth tracing on here: https://www.health.govt.nz/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-resources-and-tools/nz-covid-tracer-app/using-nz-covid-tracer-app/bluetooth-tracing

Why oh why did they not just leave the scanning option working. Around  my town most of ghe bigger stores remmoved all the QR code posters on the Sunday night. Some stores still have them up which is fine. I still record all  my visits by using that mnaual entry if no QR poster. It just might come in helpful if I or may family get Covid

So this bit:

"➡If you test positive for COVID-19 make sure you fill out the contact tracing form and upload your Bluetooth tracing keys as soon as possible. This will send out fast, anonymous notifications to people who have been in contact with you. "

But only if they've also been scanning in and were at those places?

Some locations still require you to scan/show/enter to ensure they're captured as 'high risk' setting too I believe alongside BT.

But yes. The moment it was suggested 'don't remove it (from your device) just yet' at the same paragraph as the 'businesses no longer require...'

It went very wrong for most.
