Bravo2020:
Fred99: I'd like to have seen use of the covid app or signing in compulsory too.

The only problem with making it compulsory is people deleting the scan once in the shop or giving a fake contact number.

or having someone to watch every person entering to make sure they do it, ok for the big shops . Im not sure the little shops could afford the cost of hiring some one to do it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

How would you stop them clearing the scan once they are in store?

Really? Why? You have been super critical of the NZ response all along. Fail fail fail. AUS has been great. Now you change your mind?

See conspiracy.com   Its a hassle for some, do you really feel that the ones that are app-literate find make time to block out app data? Come on

I call it as I see it. I don't get weighed down by emotions like some people. If they're good at that time they're good. If they're bad at that time, they're bad. Bad things are allowed to get good, good things are allowed to get bad.

But please quote my post where I said Aussie was good - I don't recall saying Aussie was good. Maybe they did something well at some stage, if so credit to them at that time.

Perhaps its more case of NZ bering rubbish all the time as is WHO etc?

Apparently the rippl app will automatically detect where you have visited, without needing to scan in. Anyone know more on this?

...

Fairly certain that is not correct. Certainly does not show in the history on a users phone.

Just simpler to set up (no registration required, no logging in).  And has check out function so have a record of duration at a site, not just check in time (assuming remember to check out - not that difficult when get used to it).  Easily scans the official QR codes.

But not clear if it is fully tied in with MOH alerts, or how diligent rippl are themselves in issuing alerts?

I was looking at the iphone OS version of the rippl app and it does appear to now have this feature, but it has to be enabled in the app manually. The android version doesn't appear to have it

It is caked Rippl auto check-in. Based on not seeing a single person scanning into shops this weekend this auto tracking is needed if the government is going to continue to drag its feet over mandatory scanning/ recording

The experts have taken over such duties ... you can listen from the experts who appear on 1 news from time to time. WHO? Lol if you think they're doing good stuff then so be it. It's your opinion, and I reserve mine on the WHO.

in May, someone tested a man who died in France in Dec 2019 and found covid https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52526554

now they find covid antibodies in Sep 2019 in Italy https://www.stuff.co.nz/world/europe/123414756/covid19-virus-antibodies-in-italy-as-early-as-september-tests-suggest

I am on Android & can see nothing re auto check-in. But as you indicate the iOS version does now have auto check-in.

Version history for the iOS version shows this feature was added in v1.1.1, released on 9 Nov (just 7 days ago), with changes to the Auto Check In parameters on 12 Nov (v1.1.2).

But  ... it does say "for selected locations" so maybe it requires businesses to have a bluetooth transmitter or similar to operate (or perhaps it works off GPS to determine the business name) ??

At least a move in the right direction.

==

On Playstore, the latest update for the Android version is shown as 13 Sept (v1.2.1).

Cannot see an option to display the version number so not certain if mine is the latest.  Has been installed since August and do not recall any request to update it.

Should have added, it is also an mRNA vaccine but has an advantage over the Pfizer version in that it can be stored at minus 20 degrees Celsius (-4 deg F) and once thawed can be kept for 30 days in the refrigerator.

Both vaccines require people to get two shots, several weeks apart. US officials said they hope to have about 20 million Moderna doses and another 20 million doses of the vaccine made by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech to use in late December.

The US with a population of 300 million might have enought to vaccinate 20 million people by end December. That's a LOT pf people who will be well down the line globally? And by July 2021 before non vulnerable can get line up for it. There is also Canada, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa left. Naturally you would expect there will be multi manufacturing faciltiies, but even so, it seems  a long long way off
