kingdragonfly: Why SkillShare SUCKS! - Response to Nathaniel Drew's "How I Learn Things Online (More Efficiently)"

It's not impossible I'm missing the point, but that doesn't seem too convincing to me.

Convert to your CD's into digital files, "rip the CD":

  • MP3 (has a file name like "Bach - Brandenburg Concerto.mp3", recommended, will play on anything, great for phones)

  • FLAC (purists, don't care about storage, burns up a lot of RAM)

If you want to go beyond simply backing up yuor purchased CD's, you can use free software Audacity to edit your sound files, such as shorten a track, or "normalize" the sound (make it consisently loud). Note to edit MP3 files, you'll the LAME extensions. See the video below.

Also mentioned is "TagScanner", which let you "tag" you audio files, so you can easily find them. It's also what gives information to your phone / media player, such as artist name and title.

Regrading safe computing, I checked all the software links. They are free from malware / trojan horses. On the subject, you can't get viruses from MP3's.

Rip Audio CD to mp3 using Windows Media Plyer

Kids have been told if they approach us with "I'm bored" we will solve it for them, by giving them chores. :)

To be fair, our kids don't often say this much, they seem to have plenty to do.

I did this a few years ago when we moved countries. Must have had about 250-300 CD in my collection. Ripped them all and donated the CDs to my local Op Shop rather than cart them half way around the world.

Err, would this then mean you are no longer entitled to the music you ripped?

As did I when I was a child. Although, with the benefit of hindsight, the things I found to do were not always what my parents would have wished...!

Good ebook, for $9. You can read from any PC web browser, tablet, or even a smart phone.

    "How To" by Randall Munroe

This book collects a form of nerd humor that many might find odd: starting with some simple question, then driving it to absurd extremes using impeccable logic.

    I am having a close look at B4x  .

Basic for Android, Java Platforms ( PC and Rpi ), and Audrino / ESP8266 .
Its now free for these all these platforms .

IOS still needs the paid version.

So free Android development for Cellphone , tablet apps with an active discussion forum.

Visual Basic style aimed at Rapid Development.

Hopefully this will work out to be easier than climbing the Java etc learning curve directly.

    Will see,
I expect getting fun things to work like Bluetooth and NFC will involve deep and unavoidable complications of the base APIs that drive these.
    Hey ho lets see.

    One step at a time.

I don't think i can post links yet, just do a search for B4x , Anywhere Software and it should be at the top.

For the corona virus playlist, kim hills morning program had.

    The Specials         Ghost Town

Dana Jay Bein       Coronavirus Rhapsody  ( A Youtube parody )

Best Wishes to all , Pete,

I know this is really boring, but Angular seems to be in huge demand in the market.

To paraphrase the WIkipedia page: Angular is an open-source web application framework led by Google."

So there's lots of Youtube videos about it.

Again boring, but a good skill to pick up. Often mentioned in "full stack programmers" jobs.

I spent a couple of hours outside on the mower in the sunshine, which was a pleasant change.
