I often don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognise or that have been withheld. I figure that if it's important then they'll leave a message.

I found the numbers that the contact tracing people call from: https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-health-advice-public/contact-tracing-covid-19 Second section, "Contact tracing phone calls".

Note that there are two sets of numbers, one that the contact tracing people use and another set that calls from Healthline may come from.

I've now set up both sets as contacts on my phone so I'll know who they are if they ever have a need to contact me.

Contact tracing phone calls

If you have been identified as a Close or Close Plus Contact of someone with COVID-19, you can expect to be contacted by the Ministry of Health or your PHU.

In some specific higher risk situations, Casual Plus Contacts may also be contacted by the Ministry of Health.

Contact tracing may involve a phone call from the Ministry or PHU providing you with advice on testing, self-isolation and checking on your health and wellbeing. The Ministry call centre staff will identify themselves and inform you that they are calling from the National Investigation and Tracing Centre (NITC). They will also verify your name and contact details. These calls from the Ministry's call centre staff will usually come from 09 801 3009 or 09 306 8748.

Following this initial phone call, your details may be passed onto Healthline who will make follow up calls during your isolation period to check how you are doing. The calls from Healthline will usually come from 09 302 0408, 09 306 8750 or 09 306 8748. There may be a delay before your call is connected. If you are concerned that a call from Healthline isn’t genuine, you can email Healthline and request a call back.

It's important to answer your phone, so the PHU, Ministry and Healthline can provide advice to you and check on your wellbeing.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

thanks @finewine, have added all to contacts list in phone and sent a vcard to the family

@freitasm

Are you able to add a vcard for people to easily download or link in OP?  I tried but your *.* upload works, then there must be a server side check that its an image which fails.

Maybe a good compromise would be to take a punitive approach where people are observed by officials to have broken the rules or lied to contact tracers, but apply an amnesty when people voluntarily declare their rule breaking behaviour to contact tracers.

There's no perfect solution so it has to be a balancing act.

If it wasn't clear now (CLEARLY outlined in media releases) about what you should and shouldn't do now if you are in a classification re testing and staying the f at home. You deserve to be held accountable.

MikeB4:

I along with my wife we are in self isolation awaiting test results for a contact. Very annoying and somewhat stressful

We have received the all clear this afternoon. One huge worry lifted.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Do they not send emails? Many people these days don't use the phone I have found, especially younger people. . I found it odd that they weren't able to make contact by phone, but then also didn't go to their house to check them.

Well, with the amount of people out and about and the amount of not really essential businesses open i would say Auckland is about to F itself over.

Get your TP and flour prepped for the level 4.

I reckon a bit of hanky panky between M and D that the parents would not have approved of , hence why the reluctance of either of these two in coming forth with their liaison.

Please send me a PM with the use case, who would use and how it helps.

A 21 year old in a relationship with a Year 9 (13 - 14 year old)?

That'd be bad but I think we can do without these types of claims...

Indeed. Although that links the chains of infection. It may not indicate the direct interactions or reasoning behind. Could well have been seeing other household members, or the yr12. It just shows the index case and likely chains in genomic sense.

That would be a bit more than just "not approve of." Anyway, they've just said in the press conference it was the two mothers going for a walk together during the previous level 3.

No, not really but you'd hope that the MoH rep was then leaving a voice message to contact them... I often let calls I do not know ring out and then I'll listen to the voice message so that when I call back I can have more details to hand if needed.

People dont have voicemail, its annoying and anyone worth hearing from will send a text.
