What, generation Now's attention span has expired? Who'd have thunk it.
there's something amiss with the schooling system ...
The team analogy has its limitations. In every team I've been a part of if you fail to follow the rules and let the team down, you're out!
tdgeek:
Well maybe they should not have given their phone number?? For crying out loud there is a pandemic on. Pandemic or answer a call when you are expecting one after a test? If this is how society is forget Covid, there is no chance, so expect lockdowns, all good....
And you wonder why we have problems? Forget the border, forget MIQ, attitudes like these people make it impossible to control. Weakest link.
I give a phone number because places demand it. Doesn't mean that I have to let them interrupt me at any time to talk to them with a call. They should be texting before a call.

This is your response to tdgeek's comments "Pandemic or answer a call when you are expecting one after a test?"! And similarly your following post. In the midst of a global pandemic and an outbreak threatening NZ's hard won freedom from local transmission of Covid-19. And the ensuing huge economic cost to individuals and the country.
One of the more selfish attitudes i've seen here for a while.

I get a sense that the tone of the discussion is hardening here, just as anger in the community is growing. I think we can express disagreements without resorting to accusations. Let's try to keep it friendly, or at least polite.

Jase2985:mattwnz:On my phone that still has voice mail enabled, I personally have my phone in flight mode much of the time so it doesn't disturb me, and just enable it a few times a day to see if any messages. But I think there are a growing number of people that don't use or like using the phone. Some people have a phobia or sorts answering calls from people they don't know.
would you still leave it on flight mode if you were expecting test results or contact tracing people to contact you?

Also not everyone in the world has a team mentality. I’ve always preferred to rely on myself and have studiously avoided team scenarios throughout life!
Gosh, so you build your own cars and computers and houses from scratch? And you produce all your own food? I'm impressed!

Unfortunately the PM is a bit delusional or too optimistic about the "team" of 5 million. We would have to be a hell of a lot more inclusive to come even close to being a team.

I dont see where inclusive fits in? Im sure the lack of care, lack of interest and general complacency is evenly spread across all sexes, races, colours, and gender types.
The bottom line is either Kiwi's are showing the world we are slack, or that the commonplace complacency and disinterest overseas has reached here. Took longer, but we were infected later and had it easier, but now the Kiwi seems tired of it. aka throwing what we have away

Simply put teams are not made up of Silos. To become a team we have to inclusive and break down the Silos.

If you were good enough at [team activity], you'd find it wasn't necessarily so. ;)
But I agree that the team analogy is aspirational rather than factual. in our team of 5 million, there's no option to kick people out of the team. Like it or not, you're in a team that includes careless, thoughtless, stupid, wilful, anti-authoritarian, inept, and a-bunch-of-other-negative-things people.

Not a team player. I bet that goes over well at job interviews.
i can see now that every person that is taken to hospital feeling unwell is getting the full panic headline in the media even though they know they are negative for Covid 19. Have to get the clicks i guess.
Common sense is not as common as you think.
