Glad to hear you are on the mend MF, take care.
freitasm: Hi folks. Surgery went well. I am just back in my room after recovering from anesthetics and everything else.
Good news. The liquid was not spinal fluid but the result of an infection. Drained, cleaned, checked spinal cord which seems to be intact. Because of this it looks like I need only 48 hours lying flat or sideways, instead of the previous five to six days as before. Loaded on antibiotics now.

You are really going through it there. I trust this approach is successful and you are out of hospital at the end of six days. All the best from all of us.
Yeah, sounds tough. Let us hope this is finally on track to a good solution. You must be more than ready to have it over with. Stay strong.

freitasm: Still in hospital. Switched from om IV antibiotics to oral now, will start getting up tomorrow and hope to be home this weekend.
You'll be looking forward to returning home after this amount of time. All the best for a speedy recovery from this point onwards 😀
Good news and good to hear you're on the mend. May it continue this way from here on!

Wow - you've really been in for the long haul mate. Best of luck with the recovery.

Just come across this thread!
Sorry to hear that you have been what my father would have called "in the wars" and glad that you're on the mend. That IV antibiotic business can be strange. I had listeriosis once and they put me on Gentamicin via IV.
That stuff is pretty strong and made me feel decidedly strange.

Still sounds sucky; hope things are (slowly...) improving.
I am home since Thursday afternoon. Progress seems better than previous times - mind you I spent two weeks in hospital after surgery, unlike previous times, pretty much all the time lying flat or on my side. Taking loads of antibiotics for the next three weeks.
