I think we will easily hit 6000,  but I would like to know if the MoH have a way to classify  the MEL tests from the rest and potentially match them to the known arrivals...

I think I read they are supposed to advise testers that they are being tested under a S.70 order,

So from the 23rd..

On Friday laboratories processed 3,978 tests and yesterday 2,816 tests were processed. The seven-day rolling average is 3,802

(yes, weekends tend to bring less) But there's nearly 1500-2000 a day of 'I'm fine, it's only a cold' that have suddenly second guessed themselves it would seem. Tsk tsk.

Think this can go here

Does the job description for Republican reps specifically require 'must be as thick as pig sh1t and be completely obsessed with number 1 and only number 1 (yourself)'.

Thats it. Lets say we get a case from MEB, been to this bar this restaurant in AKL, then watch the test queues.

Pre departure tests, despite infectiousness starting day one. Get a test then is it 2 or 3 days to circulate?

Fred99:

Only 4 new CT cases in Victoria overnight.  Can't see a mention of whether these are from known/traced contacts or from general community testing - but  presumably if it had been the latter they'd have said.

Anyway, not good - but not terrible, if they get through the next few days without cases popping up at random, maybe it'll be contained sooner rather than later (or not at all).

I think we need to look at history and be ultra conservative, as they had one of the longest lockdowns previously. It appears there are issues around their hotels, with the blame game going on between state and federal governments over them. The problem is NZ is so vulnerable with only a very low percentage vaccinated, people are not scanning , and very little testing occurring. This bubble has only been operating for a very short time, and seems to causing major hassles for many. I just hope it won't be a multibillion dollar mistake if we head into another lockdown. It is interesting how Australias Covids precautions appear to be far more strict than NZs. eg Wearing of Masks inside Airports in Oz, but they only require them when on the plane in NZ.
I guess people knew the risks though before travelling to Oz, so have planned for this.

They aren't more strict than NZ. As ONE example we didn't allow nails and haircuts. We had one 5 week lockdown, that was the cure. Auckland had an issue but we have not had major lockdowns in multiple areas.

Of note is that when we had a leak, such as the guy that escaped to grab beers, this thread expanded. Now we have a bubble, multiple locations over there days after the bubble, and blame free. I guess if we end up importing Melbourne bubble Covid, it will be ok, as the bubble is great?

I feel NZ is starting to repeat past mistakes with this virus. The only way to make sure with 99.9% certainty that the virus doesn't into the NZ community is quarantine. Some people also lie or don't do the right thing. Quarantine removes this from the equation.

Looks like Fiji is a long way from pulling in their outbreak.
It may just be tip of the iceberg, but hopefully things do improve.

I was referring to this article regarding the differences in the protocols with the transtasman bubble. Australia's appears to be tougher.  https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-new-zealands-australia-transtasman-bubble-travel-protocols-not-tough-enough-traveller/I4B657Y33VHTALZ2PLTGZBNM6M/

Back-up contact details were also required as well as an email address, flight number and the exact location she would be staying.

versus

All she needed to do was go through Customs and fill out an arrival card, which only asked for contact details in New Zealand.

Contact details, thats the key. We have them for all 5000 that arrived here, I don't see the issue. In any case everyone wanted a bubble, they go the bubble, so everything is fine. The inherent risk is apparently acceptable, and if this outbreak got here, then thats the risk, that apparently is fine. Thats a stark contrast from the endless blame game that went on here when we had a very very small number of MIQ leaks. Now we have 5000 of them, but that's all fine by the looks.

That's not correct. I didn't want a bubble and I would think I am not the only one.
