Mr Hipkins was meant to stand up tonight and yes/no update the Victoria Pause.
They're now canceled press conf and crunching numbers over NSW instead.
DS248:
Indeed! And with a long list of "venues of concern".
The list's a lot shorter if you allow for a daily brunch at the same cafe.
If he caught it from an international air crew a week ago, they could be anywhere on the planet by now. Tracing the origin of this one might be impossible.
DS248:But ... my elderly MIL goes to a different local medical centre in Orewa. They told her they are not, and will not be doing Covid vaccinations. Her only current option appears to be to go a community clinic. The nearest, Birkenhead is ~35km away for her, which is well outside her driving range.
Yup, that's what happened with Mother Neb, who goes to Silverdale Medical. However a better option than Birkenhead is the one in the central city, just get the NEX into town, walk up to the centre, walk back, and the NEX back home.
I'll let you know if Mother Neb finds out more about the Albany option, it may be more convenient for your MIL. In any case it's ridiculous that elderly people are being sent from Whangaparoa to Birkenhead, which is almost impossible via public transport, eight buses there and back, just to get vaccinated.
Seems my experience with my my second dose appointment being lost, and then being offered an appointment outside the 6 week CDC recommended window is not unique:
Fingers crossed that the national booking system is live soon, and doesn't have it's own set of teething issues.

If they can rule out the current VIC strains it will be highly likely its was from driving air crew...
On the plus side,
1) its highly likely he got it from work,
2) They are on a regular testing regime, so the window of transmission is not too huge
3) Vaccination Status????, They should have been vaccinated,(so far not disclosed) ... if so their transmissibility is potentially lower ??
Its not great, but its not as bad as VIC when the returnee from SA roaming the community for 2 weeks...

In MIL's case even that is not viable option. Fairly certain she has never used NEX. And I doubt she is physically up to the 10 - 12 min walks each end, each way.
Unless a local HBC option becomes available, 'we' (other half) will have to arrange a suitable time and take her.
...

Absolutely.
And similarly ridiculous that vaccination locally is a lottery, dependent on which medical practice you happen to choose a decade or so ago

These types of things are inevitable and totally unavoidable in a large scale rollout. It's a pain for those affected but in the greater scheme of things really quite insignificant.
these want vaccines to be given around the world before using on UK kids

2nd case now - but is a person the first case lives with.
They picked up the case with the driver using routine daily (when on shift) saliva test, confirmed with swab/PCR.
MidCentral DHB is now doing Group 3 vaccinations at their vaccination centre at 38 Fitzherbert Ave (behind Toy World).
Their definition of Group 3 is over 65 or a health condition requiring 2 or more meds.

It really shows the value of saliva testing which some people in Australia are subject too daily. The big question is why somebody in that age group performing that job hasn't been vaccinated!
