Another case - and another "possible".

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the 70-year-old woman attended the Belle Cafe in Vaucluse.

In addition to that, a man in his 40s tested positive in the Baulkham Hills area.

However, NSW Health is still determining whether it's a false positive or an old case as the viral load in his system was "very low".

Delta strain, no match to any other cases in Aus, but matches cases found in the US.

sbiddle:

It really shows the value of saliva testing which some people in Australia are subject too daily. The big question is why somebody in that age group performing that job hasn't been vaccinated!

"And that's the police investigation that will determine to what extent that driver complied within existing health orders, which is very important.

Statements are being made that are suggestive that he hadn't been complying - otherwise (if he had been) then they'd likely have the answer already.

That would be a BIG problem as Australia's Pfizer supply is constrained until September

Certainly will not be many in 50-60 age group lining up for AZ shots after this has now been mooted.  Three AU people I know in the 60+ age bracket had already been holding back!

'Indeterminate' Covid-19 test result on Stewart Island being investigated

https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/childcare-centre-closed-stewart-island-indeterminate-covid-19-test-result-investigated

Fairly sure this will come back as a false positive or Historic

"A person with an indeterminate test result for COVID-19 in Stewart Island is under investigation to determine whether they are a case or not.

A subsequent repeat test was negative.

The results of serology testing, due later today, will help provide more information as part of the ongoing investigation.

In the meantime, a number of precautionary steps are being taken.

The person’s other family members have returned negative PCR tests.

While the investigation is underway, as a precaution, a local childcare centre is being closed for the rest of the week; possible local contacts asked to isolate until further information is available and a community testing station will be open from 1pm today at the Community Centre for other members of the very small community.

Public Health staff have so far been unable to identify any likely source of infection and given the relative isolation of the community, health authorities currently believe that it is most likely that the person is not a case.

Given the isolated nature of the community the DHB is putting additional staff on the ground in Stewart Island today to provide testing, primarily for those in the community with symptoms and for anyone linked to the childcare centre. Any local residents seeking testing are expected to be able to be accommodated.

Results from the additional tests are expected today."

At least one positive - no new local cases in Vic yesterday

Everyone see the PMs address?

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/covid-19-coronavirus-ministry-of-health-investigating-possible-positive-case-on-stewart-island/2TZ6LJ6XNPJA6F3AKA3LUTFJ6Q/

There was far too much in it to list here, and press will be re-gurgitating it with a likely spin. So do go finding the official releases. But it is worth a watch. Albeit some of the standard deflection spins to address concerns.

But some takeaways I took..

Booking system about to go live via website, including 0800 for those that do not want to use online

Book BOTH shots at same time using drop down list of centres in region. 3 Weeks apart. (vs 3months)

Age group tranches. 5yr slots, starting end of July. 60+ first up. And once open you have infinite time to get (that slot will not close)

Major businesses likely to get onsite jabs like flu arrangement where large numbers can be easily obtained in a short space. Still a WIP, with likely timeline 'from' August

Rest / 35s+ from about October

4 week notification of stock confirmed order made. And weekly delivery of product once that order starts being fufilled.

The big question I have about the Booking system is how does it work with the "invites" for each  cohort ..??.

Are the invites simply a "generic "bookings are open for your group"" or are they personal and linked to a booking system application waiting for you to fill in...

I guess we wont know till next week when the MoH hold a more derailed Q+A session for the media

I took away that it was likely to be possibly still DHB controlled. As they said wait, you'll get a txt/notice as an invite still that you are part of said group. I expect there will be a personalised ID of sorts based on your DHB records. Or they would struggle to filter out the riffraff trying to pull one over

Might be fun for people who have moved regions and not updated. But may also be why they said if you are worried your details may not up to date you can pre-register interest when it goes live and update details. So will be sure to get the contact/invite when your number is up.

I don't see them letting everyone book outside their own known area. So might additional reason to lock it down to DHB record holders personally.

At least in the case of my MIL, it is as per what I bolded above.  Invite came with a link and username to log in with.  She attempted but inevitably failed the login attempt(s?), so fwded her invite to us.  Relatively straightforward.  Page came up with her name etc already filled in.  Problem was, the nearest option was Birkenhead, ~35km away.  Not feasible for her to get there alone so will need to wait till can sort out otherwise.

Similarly my invite received yesterday has a link and login name.  But I have been reluctant to login as earlier in the morning, I had already booked to be vaccinated on Tue at my local medical practice.  Not wanting to tempt fait ...

Might be interesting to login in after I have had my first shot though and see if it shows up ...!

Actually, the invite email does say up front:

"If you already have an appointment or have had your COVID-19 vaccination please disregard this invitation."

So disregard is the correct action.
