77 new cases in Sydney today.
They're warning to expect >100 tomorrow.

They must be getting be close to the point where contact tracing becomes practically impossible, and they'll lose control unless lockdown is very hard and strictly enforced.

The concept that businesses should decide for themselves whether they're "essential" and should stay open is lunacy.

I was spot on with my lottery guess!

Tracing will now be out window. It was up to 22,000 yesterday or Friday as it was. And those who are considered just aren't staying home or their bullet proof household are out.

And a death also, with a family member who I assume caught it form another family member.

Its gone now but a Stuff headline this morning mentioned that contract tracing was becoming impossible or difficult to keep up with. Given how its expanding is it worthwhile to spend time finding out that Coles in Glebe has had infections go through it? I guess it is, but basically infections where traced by tracing or not traced can be anywhere and everywhere. May as well give up on that and place those staff in vaccine centres?

Re lunacy yes, 100% She was questioned yesterday, put that down to needing an essential whitegood. Thats so stupid. Aside from supermarkets etc, businesses that deal with these rare type of essentials such as a whitegood, order one or phone in, CC handy, they can deliver to the door

The Netherlands. Almost 40% fully vaccinated, extrapolating total doses, probably ~60% have had at lest one dose.

But look at the virus go. Steeper exponential growth than seen before, back to almost peak infection level in a couple of weeks:

Currently QR Code scans are averaging a little above 700000 per day, does anyone remember what they were during Level 4?

It would be interesting to compare essential shopping etc only vs now.

the app wasn't released until may 20

But anyway, if it had been released prior to level 4 I suspect the numbers would have been waaaaay lower than 700,000 per day during level 4

While the vaccine isn't a silver bullet, it may not even be a tin bullet? Wasn't Israel similar? When vaccination went well, reduced measures and it rose again?

It always amazes me watching people walk in to a business without scanning, but if you are seen scanning on your way in the person behind you will get out their phone and scan as well!

(They probably had no intention to do it as they usually don't have their phone ready!)

Couplands Head Office you have to do a manual entry as you can't scan the one QR Code that I saw due to the current sun angle and shadows while you try to scan it!

(No-one else even tried while I was there!)

But the vaccines give a huge reduction in severe disease and death.

They're working well - better than thought possible a year ago, but the delta variant is taking back some of that.

Maybe we will get numbers of the infections and hospitalisation and ICU by one dose, two doses and no doses
