ah i didn't mean it that way

some context -

if in NZ you socialize in the morning with your friends at the cafe,

in Asia the older folk socialize in the morning with their friends at the market.

so whether it's wet or dry, dead or live, it's where people go

just to put into context

but it's not for me ... i can't stand it. can't stand cafes either!

Oblivian:

I wonder if the .health.nz site is just going to get a domain redirect and the 'register' function actually enabled to do what it is meant to..

The booking URL is a total dogs breakfast.  "book.vaccine.covid19.healh"....... and no .govt.nz ....

I mean really....

Will be interesting to see how the AU & NZ vaccination rates trend over the next couple of weeks, now that we have larger supplies arriving.

The improvements will be big compared to the past, but nowhere near singapore

The target for next week is 200,000 doses, or 5,700 on that chart,

While the follow week they want up 250-300K or up to 8,500 on the chart

All ready starting to see a bit of an uptick on that red line.

The ministry of health graph (below) from a few months back had us a big uptick in quantity at the end of Aug, then about 250k weekly doses for three solid months. That would work out to 7,150 a day per million. (after say 3 weeks to ramp to that number).

We seem to be set to get 350k - 370k weekly shipments until the end of next month, so that sets a theoretical limit of 10,000 per million per day on the graph. I think we are unlikely to get their due to staffing limits. Would be great if we do, but still coming in well below Singapore current rate.

And Singapore needs it, badly

Singapore: Three weeks after it outlined its much-publicised road map for living with COVID-19, Singapore is returning to a partial lockdown for a month.

The south-east Asian city state is recording the highest incidence of new cases of the virus in 11 months with growing clusters around nightlife venues and a major fishing port causing alarm.

Weren't they looking at bubbles including NZ very very recently?

Its time to rapidly reduce/cease arrivals in NZ, wait a month, see what happens.

Australia will surpass us for fully vaccinated (2 jabs) within the next few days. They're really ramping up as well with larger Pfizer orders and currently going around 175k doses per day and also huge numbers of 2nd jabs.

By the middle of next month things might start to be a little closer, but it wouldn't surprise me if we don't surpass them until possibly late August, they are waaaay ahead of us on first dose numbers.

Watching Sky AUS right now. The cases and those in the community while infectious isn't rising, but its not dropping, it should be. My guess is that the lockdown is being offset by enough flouters/not interested, to stop the numbers dropping.

It is a race if you have community transmission. We have been lucky (or skillful) thus far but watch the wailing and gnashing of teeth if we end up with CT while the vaccination is not complete.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Im not trying to be nit picky by that short comment. Both countries would like to be further ahead. AUS buys vaccines and can manufacture, we can only buy, and we are using what we get. With that, we are probably ahead of them based on capability. With half of Australia in lockdown and NZ isnt, again, we are probably ahead if you factor in everything. I hope that we can use up our increased shipments as we get them. We are on a ticking time bomb trying to vaccinate ahead of the inevitable Delta incursion, but at least a ticking time bomb is better than already being bombed.
