if there are excess vax all you need is an app to let people know.

seriously a 12 year old can write an app for these sort of things.

if too lazy to write app there's something called .. umm face-something - face..book?

News has broken that NSW will have a 4 week lockdown extension from this Friday 31st July. Some area's with less restrictions and some with more. Not sure how the will police that

I dont know many 12yo that can write apps. People have shown that they wont make an effort to get jabbed. A sign at a chemist that they walk past will get more traction. Lowest common denominator theory

That's far too logical..

IMHO the age banding for level 4 is stupid. You've basically got just over 2 million people now who are deemed lower risk and are still focussing on age bands as a way to manage the rollout. Getting jabs in the arms of those eager to be vaccinated should be the priority now.

The problem with trying to open things up for excess jabs at the end of the day is doing this in a way that doesn't cause carnage as people rush a vaccination centre, but we're presumably at the point now where in lots of these areas the historical method of approaching nearby businesses isn't going to work any longer.

social media works. post on facebook that there is a free pair of shorts within a few seconds someone would have grabbed it.

maybe they don't want hoards of people showing up.

then you can waitlist say 10 people ahead of time who could be in the area at 5pm or whatever. if you know you have excess send them a text or call them to see if they'll be around.

does take a few brain cells and will not work if you have workers/managers who are robotic "does not compute, outside my training" type

I read here that when they get supplies they are diluted or some prep, and then the shots need to be used in 6 hours? Hence it makes sense to dump them in arms than bins. Be great when chemists are all equipped, a big fat sign outside saying "Vaccinating now, step inside" Every little bit helps

Prior to Use they dilute the vial with 1.8ml of Sodium Chloride solution, they then draw 6 (potentially 7) doses from the vial to administer

The diluted solution has a shelf life of 6 hours,

Anyone feel like making a report to CERT about a website purporting to be an official government site without a .govt.nz address?? :)

It says group 1-3 when you try to book. But I don't think they check

Check what - group?

Yes, it checks the group and if you are not eligible it asks you for contact details and preference (SMS, email or SMS + email).

What is the issue with using .health.nz? It's a MOH website and MOH moderates the .health.nz 2LD. Why does it need to be .govt.nz?

You can book group 4, but only if you've over 60 because that's the only group 4 currently available for booking.

This site is the same one that's been live for weeks, it just now has more general availability.

I just tried a dummy booking by saying I was over 60 and can get appointments at various locations in Lower Hutt from Monday morning. It's so simple and painless  that people can't come up with excuses any longer! It literally takes 3-4 mins to complete the whole process and book in both jabs.

(Note I didn't actually make a booking, I'm already fully vaccinated)

@freitasm must be 60 now? He can book in at Johnsonville from Sat 7th if he gets in quick 😂

Geekzone/smart people:

"We know domains, it's legit - carry on"

Rest of population that are over-cautious over cold calls, emails and potential spam who got the link from shared facebook post or friend rather than click-through from official covid19.govt.nz page:

"Hey Covid19 facebook page (or MoH). This is a .nz. What is that? it doesn't say .co.nz. Why does it have .health. Is this site legit.?!?!?..."

At least it does actually take your registration details now it's opened up rather than brush you off.

I am not 60 yet so can't book - you must be since you are already vaccinated.
