The site is working fine - and for anybody in the Wellington region it's worth noting (I just looked again a few mins ago) that the earliest you can get a booking in the Wgtn CBD or Kilbirnie is September - but if you can get to Lower Hutt you can take your pick of days next week.

i would have thought that not ending up and/or dying in hospital would be enough incentive to get vaccinated.

Apparently not for a significant section of the population.

Still bottom of the OCED in regard to doses/population thou...

Even 350K a week only adds ~7% to the overall tally meaning we might just catch up with OZ  ( who are the OECD laggard)

NZ 1.7 million administered in 5 million pop is 34%

OZ 11.4 million out of  25 million is 45%

Oz are currently 158K doses per day (7 day rolling average) this is 1.1 million/week or 4% of pop
[-but OZ are pfizer constrained at 1 million a week until September + whatever AZ people will accept] so they probably can't ramp much higher....

at a 3% differential we might just catch them before their pfizer deliveries ramp in Sept/October,- (up to 2 million doses a week in Q4)

The decision to be towards the bottom of the OECD at this stage was baked into our strategy some time ago.

Hopefully we see 250k doses this week, and 300k doses a week in the near future.

At just 250k doses a week, it will take 18.4 weeks to hit 60% of our population vaccinated. At 350k it would take 13.4 weeks. (crude numbers)

Fairly quick from here either way. Just need to cross our fingers that we don't get a big delta outbreak in the next two months as our vaccination rate still won't be high enough to make much of a dent on the R0 value.

After 60% is anybodies guess, and will come down what approvals for kids have come through, and how good we are at getting vaccinations to people who are harder to reach. That will be the success or failure of our vaccination program.

I assume you mean 60% tot pop... i.e 75% of the current 16+ pop..?

middling Vax rates might not slow it.. but could potentially blunt the edges of the hospitalisation and death rates .....

Yip. I think total population is the best way to track it, otherwise numbers drop every time we make a new group eligible.

Something like 30% fully vaccinated would start to drag the R0 value down a bit, meaning any lockdown's etc will be more effective. Hopefully we will be able to deal with any delta outbreak's before we have widespread vaccination in a way that keeps total cases low, meaning very low hospital admissions and deaths regardless.

60% might be a bit ambitious before we start to see rate tapering. Israel got to about 55%, but I am counting on the 12 - 15 year old approval coming through in in the next month or two.

There is the possibility the medical industry will hit this vaccination think out of the park once the GP clinics and pharmacies that have opted in, and the workplace vaccination operators all get into full swing. Might be wishful thinking, but we could see some 400k+ doses weeks, eating slightly into our current stockpile.

I rang the healthline number 0800282926 around 630pm last night and got booked in.

I only waited about 3min before i was on the line to a real human who booked both myself and my girlfriend in for our vaccines.

I asked to have the second at 6weeks which she obliged and booked it all in at the same time.

New vaccine clinic opening near me this weekend but im in for Tuesday morning at 830.

It was super easy and a text arrived after the call.

Bhutan has now vaccinated 90% of its eligible population.  Perhaps vaccination rates here may end up higher then some people are expecting?

[edit] And out PM gets her second dose. Her first dose was on 18/6, so she has run a 6 week, 5 day dose spacing.

Both her jabs were staged PR events, so nothing can be read into the spacing.
