That doesn't explain why venues such as Spark Arena still isn't listed for Friday night for the big Bayley's real estate conference. The timeframes for that event aren't going to change, so why can't that be listed ASAP?

Same with the AKL-WLG flight. They knew about that at 4:30PM Thursday but it took more than 24 hours to have it up on the site, and it sounds like passengers on that flight had not been contacted.

Getting strong "doesn't sound like anyone in Wellington scans in anywhere" vibes from some of the comments.

825 new cases in NSW, 3 deaths.

516 in hospital, 85 in ICU, 29 on ventilators.

I understand that 2000 cases a day with Delta is when their health system runs out of capacity. They're about a week away from reaching that on present trajectory, maybe the system won't be overrun immediately, but cases in exceeding cases out, it's inevitable.

Similar population to NZ. This is where we must not end up

Anonymous man slams contact tracers for not breaching privacy

Derp reporter George Block at Stuff devotes almost half of one sentence to explain in detail why anonymous man is screaming at the clouds.

P*ss-poor reporting - against any public interest.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/health/coronavirus/300387951/absolute-shambles-auckland-contact-tracing-staff-missed-four-cases-tried-to-suppress-info

I've just read that article and other than the bit about the contact tracer not saying where or who it seems this guy makes some good points about the way the initial contact with the contract tracing team was handled.  He wasn't just slamming them for not breaching privacy he was slamming them on how the whole initial contact was handled. Things like the contact tracer not even identiying himself properly, being cagey with details, to the point he wasn't sure the call was genuine, that he wasn't allowed to tell his boss, etc. One point he made was how was he to know when to get the 5 day test when the contact tracer wouldn't tell him when he was exposed?

It looked very amateurish and un professional from Auckland Regional Publuc Health's point of view so far as the initial contact. He was very complimentary about they way the supervisor handled things and the way the follow up was handled. As well as being critical of how somethings were done he also gave credit for the good stuff.

Warkworth waste water is interesting. I wonder which parts of North Auckland drain through there? Surely the Hibiscus Coast is separate, Warkworth is a fair distance away.

Army Bay Sewage Treatment Plant handles wastewater from "reticulated areas on the Hibiscus Coast, which includes Orewa and the Whangaparaoa Peninsula".

So, no Hibiscus Coast wastewater does not head north to Warkworth.  (Would indeed be a long way if it was!)

I think 21 new cases is a win. I assume these are pre lockdown infections? Since Tuesday the infection possibility rate has plummeted, so I feel its good news so far. More to come though, until time gets us to the lockdown, given the lag.

Sure.  How do you "prove your credentials" to someone over the phone?

Contact tracers do not tell the close contact how they become a contact if it leads to the identification of the case. This is required under privacy law.

The guy was being a dick.  The Stuff report is pathetic (and BTW has been edited).

There's another damned good reason for maintaining privacy.  Some people will not front up for testing at all if they believe their privacy could be breached.

Up to you to choose to believe verbatim an anecdote from an anonymous person in a sad rag of newspaper.  I think it's 99% BS.

The PM still seems to be living in a dream world where her justification for delays in getting locations out is because "everybody should be at home".

We have ~550,000 people in this country getting up each day and going to work largely as normal. We know what as most people in this country don't scan that there is no way to send out notifications if you've been at a location of interest such as a supermarket because you're pretty much an anonymous customer - tracking people down through things such as transaction data and contacting banks takes time. If you went to a store and didn't buy anything you don't even exist.

Getting up locations of interest ASAP is just a fundamental basic thing to be doing and yet all we're seeing if people going out of their way to justify why the website is almost an unimportant afterthought and that virtually everybody knows already by the time locations get published. What a load of rubbish.

This could be a long lockdown..

Interesting perspective.

My thoughts are of the contrary. Let's hope you're right.

From the above article:  "It’s not known how many people travelled on the flight or where the person was sitting."

Really!  How can it take more that a few hours to confirm that information with certainty

OK, re the flight. According to standup today, the person(s) on the flight were exposed on the day they flew down to Wellington.

Flight was listed as a LoI out of an abundance of caution.  'Over abundance' may be a better fit?

Might help if that info was explained earlier and/or tagged to the LoI notification.

No new cases in Coromandel and no wastewater detection must be good news too. The guy was in a crowded pub watching the rugby, if he'd been infectious at that stage then it's almost inconceivable he wouldn't have passed it on.
