amiga500: ... Google maps already does this.   Click on the supermarket & scroll down & it will show a live view ...

Is it really real-time or historical? I clicked on a local facility on Google Maps - shows histogram of available opening days/hours and activity. However the facility has in fact been closed for some time because of Covid-19.

Back from New World, reasonably quiet tonight. Stocks still fine. One way system in the aisles is a good idea, but no one pays attention to it.

Pricing - seems to be up quite a bit. Similar shop to last week but around 20% more expensive. I feel like I noticed less stuff on special than normal, and unfortunately stuff at New World really needs to be on special for it to offer value. Especially in light of most of their “full service” adding being (understandably) not present at this time. Also the specials online and in store are actually different too, which I didn’t realise.

Does it have a pink "LIVE" indicator?

Went to Life Pharmacy Riccarton for medicine yesterday, saw a N95 mask pack of 10 for about $60. (they are different to the rectangular surgical masks you see)

Hornby Pak n Sav had no queue about 8 am this morning.

Thorndon New World has been very busy (full car park and long queue) every time we've been there, any time of day. Just down the road NW Railway Metro is deserted and is going out of business. The only problem is they're a metro and don't have everything (e.g. no hardware).

https://www.stuff.co.nz/life-style/well-good/120872043/lily-and-richies-supermarket-blunder-some-things-arent-funny-in-lockdown

Bachelorette Lily McManus and her beau, Richie Boyens, were at the supermarket near the Golden Bay bach where they are staying during lockdown.

The lovebirds found themselves in the juice aisle where they were confronted with a product called Golden Pash.....

So they did what anyone would do in their situation, and they stuck their tongues out like they were French-kissing the juice box.

Millennials that they are, McManus and Boyens photographed the moment on a smartphone. But then, they committed a grave error. They posted the photos to Instagram.

Understandably, some of Boyens' followers saw the post as an affront in our current, locked-down, germaphobic reality - even if, as Boyens pointed out in the comments, they bought the juice in question.

"Not appropriate guys," one follower commented.

Although there is no suggestion that they actually licked the cartons, still feel it would have placed the checkout operator at risk.

Went to Countdown Rangitikei street yesterday afternoon and there was a short queue that took maybe 5 minutes. Once inside it was fairly well stocked with mainly cooking stuff (flour, baking powder) being the obvious out of stock items. Only had 3 counters open though so that took the longest time to get through.

Rejoiced at finding a relatively decently sloped road near my house for hill sprint repeats so that adds a bit of variety to my running diet hahaha

No, just all-blue histogram. So some are live/realtime some not even though clearly open?

Back from a quick run this evening (only managed 3km, not the distance I wanted but I did pick the pace up - so you win some, lose some I suppose).

Very few people out and about tonight, but I did notice a massively increased police presence. A lot of police vehicles pulled over on main roads and generally patrolling. It was an unusual sight given in NZ our police tend to be quite discrete I find.

I don't supermarket shop and I don't really exercise as such, but I do live on a steep hill country farm and a walk down the drive to the mailbox gives me a pretty good cardio workout.

At my age and condition I am not supposed to shop. Instead, the supermarket delivers to a friend in town who brings it out to me. But today I happened to have a drive-thru vaccination appointment that coincided with the delivery, so after getting zapped in town I drove to my friend's house where bags of shopping were waiting for me.

After much preliminary stress and uncertainty, it all went very smoothly. I picked up my shopping and had a nice natter with my friend at a respectful distance on the other side of the window. Then I drove home.

What struck me was the amount of traffic on the road and the people out walking and cycling. It was a lot like any other day. I followed a police car for a long way until I turned off but he didn't show any interest in stopping me and demanding to know why I was out. I must admit I was a little disappointed. I had such good reasons and was eager to share them.

All in all, it was a bit of a let-down. My shopping was all there. Not a single thing went wrong. I will definitely do this again when I next have to be in town for a vaccination. Hopefully it will be for the Covid19 virus!

Wife just got back fro Pac-n-Save Northlands. Very long queue at 7am, but moving, so not too bad. Lots of people out for last shop before long weekend. Shelves well stocked, even sanitiser.

My partner is still going to work as she works in healthcare so can use her ID to jump the queue at Pak n Save if needed. She's done a couple of big shops, one the night before the lockdown and didn't need to go back until Monday night this week. Didn't need to use her ID when she went after work as there were only a couple of people waiting.

I left the house for the first time in 2 and a half weeks yesterday morning for a Hospital Appointment (ruptured achilles pre-lockdown) and made an attempt to get my partner some Easter treats on the way home (rather than tell her to get them herself when she went) but both Pak N Save and Countdown Lower Hutt had queues around the whole carpark and I didn't want to stand for ages on this leg so gave up. Made another attempt this morning, perhaps stupidly thinking if I went early enough when they opened I might beat some of the crowd, but nope. Pak n Save, Countdown and New World Lower Hutt all had queues around the carpark already so didn't bother to even park and get out. If it wasn't for the injury I could wait but I can't stand for an hour on this leg at the moment, and especially not in that rain this morning. So have instead ordered some stuff from the Warehouse and it can just arrive late.
