FineWine:

Now the flat-earth, 5g and radical environmental society crowd and the like have latched on to this as another angle to their weird beliefs etc. Leaving that aside, Jobmate is their home brand out of China and my concern is how well has M10 researched the effectiveness of this 'nanosilver' impregnated fabric product. Because I am pretty certain that there has to be a minimum specification standard for nanosilver to be effective in this type of product.

Just a thought.

The official CDC ones from last year are from Hanes and claim to have silver nitrates in em too. They sure stink.

Want localish for $3? :) https://www.platypusshoes.co.nz/platypus-face-mask-platmask-blk.html

Lockdown for another 2 weeks I suspect in Auckland.

This week will tell us alot about whether our elimination strategy still works under Delta.

I had advised peers that is likely the case. And for the SI or other regions perhaps extension till at least weekend if there was to be an adjustment at all.

But it's a VERY fine balancing act to consider.

They also still need to change the order for masks for lower levels. I expect that to be announced today if anything.

Id say they just extend a week at a time

With a R value of 5 to 6, and cases increasing by 1.8 for AKL, that's well ahead of Delta expectations. It would be much more informative if we knew the approx infection date of each of the 107 cases, to plot a more accurate growth curve.

Its far from your Grandfathers 'open border' though.
I emphasize this as Antivax and much of Auckland radio have a very different idea of open.

So Full vaccination 2 weeks before travel, Test 48 hours before travel, Test on arrival, then test at day 3 test at day 7.
4 Tests !
I expect there is some detail requiring the Singapore Trace together app, some means they can track you until last test passed.

Plus usual large Singapore Fines :-)

""
Singapore has announced they will be reopening their borders to allow in vaccinated tourists from a range of destinations, including residents from Hong Kong, Macao, Germany and Brunei.

Travellers from the listed countries will be able to enter Singapore from September 8 without needing to enter quarantine, essentially meaning they can bypass the isolation requirement if they test negative to four Covid-19 tests.
""

I expect once we get to large % including children vaccinated we will go much the same way, so no vax no travel, and countries wont accept people from us without same.

So just all get vaccinated.

Interestingly the MOH website 1pm update is showing total new cases in the 24 hours to 9am as 38, 2 of which are "People who travelled internationally and were diagnosed in managed facilities at the border".

Which leaves another 36.  Of those, 14 were "Caught COVID-19 from someone locally", with the remaining 22 under investigation.

Slightly different from the 35 local cases being reported in news items.  Possibly one of the "under investigation" cases has been  reclassified as a border case (though I did not notice any indication of that on the MOH website).

NSW: 818

Deaths: 3

That's been consistent for 3 days now.

The NSW press conference today (Gladys is still live now) is quite extraordinary. I'm not sure if I've even heard a mention of being tested - it's about about getting vaccinated.

Basically delta can't be eliminated it's all about being vaccinated and living with it.

Re: courier deliveries, I had CourierPost collect from my house last Wednesday under L4. It was a document for my wife's work which was urgent. No issues.
