Thinking that Hipkins deliberately "lied" is sheer and utter idiocy.

You conspiracy theorists need to get a grip on yourselves.  It's pathetic.

It's either lies or incompetency. Take your pick.

If it's a lie it wouldn't be the first time a politician of any persuasion has lied, so no shock there.

Personally I lean towards the incompetency option. I don't buy the misstep of an aide making a mistake. There would have been multiple discussions around the delivery schedule which as the minister he would have been part of. He should have know the correct date. If he didn't.....?

This is the guy that encouraged people to 'spread their legs' during lockdown.

Far more likely he misspoke. I get months confused, hell sometimes I have trouble remembering what financial year it is.

TeaLeaf:Very sad news we had our 1st Biontech covid vaccine related death recorded in NZ, Im sure its already posted on here.

The CV-ISMB considered that the myocarditis was probably due to vaccination. The CV-ISMB noted that there were other medical issues occurring at the same time which may have influenced the outcome following vaccination.

Cause of death hasn't been established.  There's a whole range of "other medical issues" that could have contributed.

He fed the media / public false information, then left it uncorrected for months.

So, as per my previous comment, either incompetence or lying.

If he mis-spoke he could have promptly issues a correction the media.

He is not claiming that he mis-spoke, The claim is that he mis-interpreted the pharse "by october" in "advice"

Politicians of all political sides are well known to lie.... Huge overreaction to suggest a politician lying is a "consiparacy"

I said deliberately lied.

It's absolutely conspiracy theory.

Thank you so much, wow, why do they have SOOOOOO many slots yet nowhere north of Auck central has any until late september/october?

I havnt heard of these people before, it looks like a CCH pharmacy chain......

Yep, its a 170km round trip but flap it, worth it rather than waiting 5-8 weeks depending on if we could have gotten cancellations elsewhere like the ones for 2 of us 5 weeks out, the rest are still booked for 7.5 weeks, so now everybody is in one flappn place which is what has been stressing me out, outside the 2 month wait.

Is the cluster Auck wide or South Auck? I thought it was north auck but seems to change daily, logically. Just a bit worried about my masks walking into such a large South Auck centre. Might buy a few more disposables before going rather than our cloth mask i bought from the pharmacy. The Mrs put it through the wash and it didnt say on the packet it was washable, but clearly reusable. Pretty sick people profiting off fake n95 masks :-(

If there are any other centres on the north shore people know have appointments soon that would be good. But if not, 170km isnt even the breadth of Auck so a nice leisurely Tuesday drive (its like a Sunday at the moment) to get jabbed haha

Oh really. All of the main news websites are saying it, so again we are getting misinformation from the media. No wonder people are confused.

I didnt worry about the original Covid strain as much, until NSW (where a lot of my family is) broke out with Delta (which they knew was far more contagious), then I thought, what if Delta comes through the travel bubble the govt created, and sure enough it did. A learning lesson to be fair, although it was pretty nasty by the 2nd week which is when imo the bubble should have been closed immediately, but it looks different from a "national" perspective perhaps, ie from the Govt.

That is a bit worrying, other medical issues, I did ask my Doctor, but he has not responded yet. I will make sure before I get jabbed Im safe (as mathematically possible)

Buster:

If NZ took that stance it all boils down to 10 covid deaths per day. Makes you wonder how many get admitted to ICU per day if 10 die per day? How many get admitted to Hospital per day?

As of now, the UK has covid patients 7,000 in hospital and about 1,000 on ventilators.

That's down from the peak of having about 40,000 in hospital and 4,000 on ventilators.

Okay, let's just assume for the moment that Hipkins is a mendacious incompetent, Jacinda Ardern a North Korean agent, and Bloomfield the Dr Nick Riviera of public health. Please state for the record what better alternatives you would put in place of these clear and present dangers to the survival of the team of five million. Obviously they are such a threat to our safety in the face of this raging all-encompassing Stephen King end of the world superflu we are all going to die pandemic, that they cannot possibly be allowed to exercise their authority a second longer. After all, everyone in the country is coughing to death on a ventilator and the plague is spreading faster than a sex worker's rash. So what have you got that is better than what is already there? What will do a better job of protecting us, without any mistakes, slips of the tongue, deceptions in passing, misinterpreted sign language gestures, or otherwise miscellaneous and grievous errors of omission? Who is the better Hipkins replacement, the better PM responsible for the lives of every citizen and the prosperity of a country with a frozen economy, the better director of public health who has spent half a lifetime studying disease prevention? Who, please? Who who who?

Bumping the jab ahead to RIGHT NOW due to fear of this outbreak. Is no different to leaving it until you are due

And will annoy anyone else legitimately trying to adjust their booking in the slots you are occupying and then cancelling.

You get no further protection for about a month afterward. So would be of no advantage at the present climate

As you'll see here. I pointed out there are independent chains not a part of the government booking plan.

https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=161&topicid=289262&page_no=3#2766392

They get paid, by the govt to issue them per jab as an entity. And don't have the same supply chain allocation.

Local Unichem here did a drive through in central chc. Lots more turnover than some sites. But is having issues restocking.

Keep in mind before scaring yourself - original - bad, not as transmissible. Delta, seemingly less, more transmissible.

Yep those are substantial ratio changes.

I was reading an article from the main NZ virology/stats guys, something about using average public hygeine and vaccinations, vs aggressive hygiene and lower vaccination count, and the 2nd scenario was dramatically better. The wording was vastly different, but words to that effect.

Does anybody have a copy of that article?

GV27:

This is the weird type of nationalism Covid has bought out - we have a world-beating response (as long as you only focus on the world beating bits of it) but using that same 'How did everyone else do, huh?' approach with the bits we haven't done well with is 'hating' or whatever.

NZ has always been very insular but also very concerned about being recognised by the rest of the world.

Covid has amplified that significantly, not in a good way.
