Some of the posts are quite alarmist. The DG did say in Sunday that the outbreak is contained. 7 of this number are from one household, which is a  high number of people living in a house compared to NZs average.  Have they provided a map this time showing where across Auckland the cases are happening, and where most cases are concentrated?

I wouldn't be surprised to see them implement a Delta 4 lockdown in Auckland with some more restrictions. This lockdown in Auckland doesn't seem as tough as the first lockdown. What part of stay at home don't people understand?

Yes. The specific suburbs have been named.

Health officials are on the hunt for the virus in Mt Eden, Massey, Māngere, Favona, Papatoetoe, Ōtara and Manurewa.

That was where they had the biggest concerns about the 34 cases with no known links to the current clusters.

It is clearly not contained. Hopefully it will be soon - but it is not yet.

 - There are 4 new LOIs added today - once of which has 3 different exposure windows. That shows that someone infectious was out in the community and there is a risk they spread it to others. It's possible more will follow as they continue to contact trace

- There is one 'unlinked' case from the 33. If they have not been able to link it to an existing outbreak, it's very possible, likely even - there are or were cases out there they do not know about.

For reasons I probably shouldn't disclose here, if they get suppression then it should result in one hell of a response from the media.

I think I now understand this point. You're not wrong, this is going to be a shit-fest if there is a suppression order.

I'm always concerned when I see a laundromat as a LOI as I imagine this involves a lot of waiting around, potentially close to others.

And surely the parents knew about the kids travelling to the holiday home.

Edit: I suppose you could read the suppression order both ways, either protecting the parent because they didn't know, or protecting them because they did know & people will now want them gone.

36YO?   If it was for a week or more, then yep - if only a couple of days -  then maybe not.

I think if I was the mother, I'd be strongly telling wayward son to forget about suppression because of what it could suggest if they're granted it.  IMO it seems to have potential for the Streisand effect to kick in big time, so best get it over and done with - swallow the dead rat before it festers.

It's going to come out - too many people know already.

Edit (mother - not father).

More like “Bondi Beach” … if Auckland get extended again the levels of compliance are going to drop like a lead balloon… lots of people on the local FB communities are saying they’re no longer willing to “take it up the wazoo” for the so-called team of 5 million.

Even really silly things like Non Aucklanders gloating about access to their takeaway of choice is now perceived as ‘inciting’ them. I’m a law abiding man too, but at _some_ point even a ‘good’ man will only take so much?

People who incite are just as bad as those the flout. There is only one recipe, lockdown. If you don't, then it will continue on and on and on

I’m not “inciting” just mentioning that the big difference this time is that it’s ONLY Auckland in L4, and so “lockdown fatigue” is being exacerbated by those in L2 “gloating” on all the social media apps.

And for whomever said I was old bashing on the young (because I’m already double vaccinated)… I’m only 40, and have two preteen kids who I WONT vaccinate, and a wife who isn’t antivacc but also WON’T vaccinate by her own choice 🤦🏼‍♂️

I won’t vacc my 10 and 12 year olds as they’re too young to ‘risk’ and most likely to be unaffected anyway, my wife is too scared (as her mother influences her not to) and I’m more statistically minded so happily did the math on my ‘pre existing condition’ and got done ASAP I can (group 3)

The Wanaka debacle.

If the Father is the company owner who had access to give them an essential worker boarder travel pass ?
They would not be very keen to have their name out there.

I'm not sure how easy it is to get these passes, seems it is too easy, despite howls that its too inflexible.

Can you please explain to me how that inconsistency exists. Seems very Schrodinger to me.

It is very possible for both to be true.

I am not an anti vaxxer nor conspiracy theorist etc, rely on balanced judgement and statistics to reach a decision. I was quite happy for NZ to be down the que when the vaccination first came out and more so that being in a non priority group with no covid in NZ at the time, was even more pleased that my covid jab may not have been due this year. When Delta arrived, this clearly changed things and brought forward my thinking on getting the jab. I wouldn't necessarily have the luxury of time on my side to see what if any side effects were reported in the media.

The only way that the Govt isn't going to rush into future lockdowns in perpetuity is if a good portion of the population is vaccinated.

Yip, so far there has been no suppression order issued, so all public speculation is still totally legal...
