You make this all sound very black and white where for many people it isn't. Labelling the vaccine hesitant as anti vax is daft and counter productive.

Oh - I haven't got started yet!

It is abject antivax bulls*t, and an irresponsible attitude from any parent of young children, potential orphans of course, one parent who won't get vaxxed, the other who did - but at risk because of a comorbidity that enabled him to be prioritised in group 3.

Thoughts and prayers.

That's not likely to convince anyone who is hesitant, it is very likely to alienate them and make them an actual antivaxxer rather than someone who is unsure.

KiwiBornBloke: a number of years back but things like this video make her hesitant this time:

Plus they’re now testing a ‘standard’ type vaccine in NZ too, so she’d rather wait?

Personally I just looked at the stats and went with the safer option being to vaccinate myself 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure if you are into cults but these videos enrol you into the cult of suicide squad. I feel sorry for your family.

I can no longer hold a normal conversation with my in laws.

If you have any questions about the vaccine there is a vaccine thread on GZ.

But I see the rolling breaker is 'stick to your bubble'

I take it that was bought up from the onset and is clue enough?...

Ardern doesn't sound so confident / assured as she has been before.

Makes me feel she didn't want Auckland to go to level 3 next week, but her colleagues are pushing her to do so.

They are worried, as they should be.

The elimination strategy is coming to an inflexion point of being successful again or months of significant restrictions and a change in strategy caused by events.

Nope.  They've had a year to use the very widely circulated good information available, but chose to talk themselves into making an incredibly dumb decision - so nothing will make them change their minds.

If OP realises how personally and socially irresponsible that decision is, maybe they can try harder with the "be kind" method.

Will we have zero unlinked cases by this time next week? I doubt it.

I suspect this is one way of Ardern saying elimination is dead.

did I miss it or there is no printed graph model this time?

KiwiBornBloke: I won’t vacc my 10 and 12 year olds as they’re too young to ‘risk’ and most likely to be unaffected anyway,

I'm struggling with your logic here. If your kids aren't vaccinated then one day they *will* get covid. And the risks of that are *vastly* greater than the risks of vaccination. But the vaccine hasn't been approved for under 12s, so your 10-y-o is completely out of the picture.

It's really strange... "most likely to be unaffected" also applies to the vaccine's side-effects, except *much* *much* less likely to be affected. Yet that risk is perceived to be greater than the risk of the disease. By a person who says he's up to speed with stats and numbers.

That is clearly untrue. I've done it myself in a number of cases.

KiwiBornBloke:

The difference between “antivac” and not vaccinating THIS time is the new method of vaccine created having other perceived issues … she’s full vaccinated for MMR and such, and was happy to get my son a TB vac when we travelled to Africa a number of years back but things like this video make her hesitant this time: [MOD REMOVED LINK TO MISINFORMATION VIDEO]

How long is long enough? https://cihr-irsc.gc.ca/e/52424.html It's been at least 10 years since they started working on mRNA vaccines..

You are joining a cult. These guys live in an alternate reality. I know cos I can no longer hold a normal conversation with my in laws, and neither can their children.

I'm saying this out of care and concern not being mean.

Yeah - but you're not going to be able to have that success "converting" the OP's partner who you'll never get the chance to sway with your charismatic charm.

I am surprised they aren't bringing in tougher restrictions, as a  Delta level 4 . In some countries they even  had restrictions on the amount of time people could leave their house for for exercise etc. If everyone was following the rules and were staying at home and scanning etc, I can't see how it can be still spreading two incubation cycles in.  IMO they need to get tougher.

My concern is that some of these cases have been detected via  surveillance testing, so these people likely wouldn't have been at POIs or close contacts.
