"Life wasn't meant to be fair" - funny how that doesn't extend to letting the vaccinated get on with their lives, isn't it? Isn't it funny how morality is convenient like that.

Do you not understand the reason why all restrictions can't be immediately lifted?

Seems selfish - "pull the ladder up jack - I'm aboard".

Not at all. There's been plenty of opportunity for everyone to climb that ladder or at least reach out for it. There comes a time when the "lifeboat" has to leave.

I don't live in Auckland but I definitely see their point of view about doing their bit and then not seeing the benefit of that because of the lack of effort from other areas. I understand them being a bit crinkly lipped. Obviously you don't live in Auckland.

No - you pull your head in, do what's being asked for perfectly reasonable reasons, and stop crying like a baby about how hard things are for you.  There's a million and a half other people in Auckland, most of whom I expect are rather more keen than you to save lives.

I think you'll find I'm allowed to say whatever I damn well please, regardless of your self-appointed policing of what is and isn't the correct attitude.

Nobody is stopping you from expressing your opinion - so don't throw that "net cop" BS at me.

Yes I know you're not happy that you can't do whatever you like - even though you surely know that if you did - then it endangers other people's lives.

Selfish.

Pretty sure some people (who don't live in Auckland) would like the government to start digging a moat at the bottom of the Bombays.

Yes, compared to some overseas, this lockdown is nothing, but compared to the rest of NZ, it's pretty major.

~90% of people of all races, creeds, religions and backgrounds in Auckland have done the right thing and had at least one jab. What's their reward? Oh, stay at home a bit longer, the rest of the country is a bit laggard.

Covid is coming for all of us. We can't confine it to Auckland, it will escape further. Vaccines are available and very easy to get. Excuses are running out if you aren't protected.

Except for the immunocompromised / elderly, for whom the vaccine won't work well - if at all in some cases.

Minimising CT is the only way to save them - a couple of posters in this forum don't know that (or worse - don't care).

@Fred99 do you mind taking the temperature down a little? I understand that this is an emotional issue but we can discuss our differences without being so abrasive.

Nope - I'll continue to respond to abject BS in the same way I have done for the past decade.

But is the cost of saving them worth it ? The restrictions have to end and the "Covid Wolf" has to let loose sometime in the future.

Auckland level 4 circuit-breaker lockdown not ruled out, Ashley Bloomfield says

Level 4 circuit-breaker not ruled out: Bloomfield   Dr Ashley Bloomfield told Breakfast this morning a level 4 circuit-breaker had been proposed and "actively considered".
He said: "That's something that has been proposed ... it's something we've actively considered and importantly I've asked for advice from my team but also from the public health teams on the ground in Tāmaki Makaurau that's informed our advice to the prime minister."
Bloomfield wouldn't pre-empt what his advice to Cabinet was, rather saying they would be considering it this afternoon and an announcement from Jacinda Ardern would follow.

Shall we let random people posting on social media and including some on this forum decide if  they should live or die?

Halving those hospitalisations and deaths using molnupiravir seems possible, should we throw them to the wolves when that's just around the corner?

Those people are always going to be present, so using your argument we will be in some sort of lockdown for ever. That's not logical nor sustainable. Yes that sounds harsh. As I get older I will most likely one of those people. That's the cards I have been dealt and I'll have to face the consequences at the time if there's anything around like Covid. The flu kills people every year but we don't lockdown for that.

Except Hipkins ruled it out last week. No wishy washy politician speak, he said it is not something being considered.

I don't mind either way, but if they Level 4 Auckland, can it be:

a) on Wednesday (my wife has long awaited wrist surgery planned for tomorrow, I'd hate that to be postponed again).

b) a proper Level 4 - enforcement, punishment, and businesses closed like in the first L4 last year (this L4 was more a L3.5 - so many more businesses operating).

c) a definite time-frame with a plan of what happens at the end of it.

The eventual decision on Auckland's border will be the forerunner to the international Border which will be coming down soon after....

The inability to return Auckland to 0, has forced the government's hand on moving to "live with it"- which we all know is coming either now, or when the border opens...

We could stay isolated last year when everyone was shutdown and locked down, but the world is totally different with vaccination , people are travelling again, for both business and personal reasons, NZers wlll demand to be able to leave and return without MIQ by the beginning of 2022...
